Love my 997.2 but find myself wondering if I'd love it even more with PSE. Anyone installed it afterwards? Anybody have PSE and never use it? Not sure I'm interested in an aftermarket exhaust at this time. Thoughts?

 

Many folks have. Attached is the official Porsche document on how to retrofit PSE into a non PSE equipped .1. Doing it in a .2 should be the same, just with different components. PSE is nice, but I love my Fabspeed setup with the headers, valvetronic mufflers, and 200 cell x-cats. Although I drive the car with the exhaust mostly in sport mode, being able to quiet it down in the neighborhood or when passing or driving next to a cop is a nice feature. It has also been said that the DME automatically closing the valves at low rpms increases torque, but I'm not sure you can feel that. If you want PSE valved functionality, but don't want to change the console switch plate and do the additional wiring, there are remote control kits for the vacuum actuator too.

That's an LN Engineering skid plate to protect my MantisSport 2L deep sump on my lowered car. The skid plate from Porsche is kind of a joke and only works with the stock oilbpan. This LN one is much thicker, strong, and well made. You never know when a dead animal or large tire gator might be unavoidable, and I'd prefer to not lose 10 quarts of oil in 2 seconds and need a tow in the middle of a trip.

Quite a bit actually. It's at my airport right now, awaiting my return. I try not to drive it in the rain when it can be avoided as the spray is what makes everything dirty, but it has been poured on a few times, including last years Petit le Mans at Road Atlanta where I also did the parade laps. Man, that was a messy event - much nicer this year.

Here are the 3 stages of evolution of the exhaust system on my 997.2 C4S Cab. The first clip is the all-stock exhaust system. It really sounded less-than-impressive, so I then installed the PSE, which gave it a much more aggressive exhaust note and growl. However, it still seemed to lack the sound I was after, so I just installed a set of Fabspeed Sport Headers and 200-Cell HJS Cats. The evolution of the sound is amazing, and I now find myself driving with the top down in all weather (rain included!) just to hear this amazing exhaust note and acceleration. The video clips really don't do the actual sound justice, but given that I had a hard time finding clips with these 3 different set up online I though I'd share clips of all 3 iterations of my system in the hopes that it helps others find the exhaust note they're after. Enjoy the vids, and I'll try to post a GoPro shot of the car under acceleration with this new set up. It's awesome ....

Disappointing, compared to my 06S sound. You need to do a center bypass to get the same volume sound!
did my install with my ashtray on/off switch.
my 06 had X31 headers.
