Mission Accomplished: 9's in the 1/4 mile!!!
Hey guys. Wow what a day. I have been getting text and emails from everyone all day long. I appreciate all of the support and understanding from those who know my character and how I run my business. I made a light comment earlier about this and was hoping to see it get cleared up somehow. But the evidence just keeps coming in. I've never seen something like this before. If Carlos can in fact prove himself he'll get an apology from me before anyone else. But I'm honestly just really hurt and upset about this. As many of you know especially my family… I work pretty much every waking moment and love what I do. Through the support of my team and vendors we've been able to get some pretty amazing things done on this platform and bang out some fast cars. I hope it's clear we don't need to do stuff like this. We have plenty of cars in the 9's and plenty of cars that have been able to do a lot without the stage 4 turbo charger upgrade. I'm sure they will post. I'm passionate and emotional about what I do and the service I provide. My head is throbbing from this. It is in fact a disservice to our team and everyone out there who was rooting for it. After talking with a countless number of people today I've heard what I need to hear and these are fabricated slips. Not happy about it. For anyone to insinuate that I would have anything to do with it you just don't know me or I haven't presented myself well over the years. 20 years. I get you are from a different forum and actually commend you guys for speaking the truth. That's a huge accomplishment and there was plenty there to back it up. Is the slip a copy. Shoot, looks like it. Even Scott who I have had my reasons for going back and forth with pointed out that's not something I would do and I appreciate that Scott. I'm pretty sure we put our stuff behind us and I'm pretty sure it was all understood. Everyone else who commented on my character I appreciate it. Makes the day a little better.
I saw something about logs. I did a lot of extensive adjustments from logs that were done "off road" and tens of maps on this car. The numbers looked great and it seemed to be a strong one. Some facts about the By Design Stage III. These cars Max out what you can do on the factory turbo chargers at around 580/590 to the wheels on the DynoJet we used. That is with race fuel and of course you can dial in individual cars/conditions for the best performance. There are several cars around the world that I've done between 135 and 137 mph with this package and anywhere from 10.06's through 10.5's for ET. I think we all want to believe it's possible to run a 9 and if/when it happens it will be a big deal hence all of our excitement and disappointment.

I actually believe a Stage 3 991 can run a 9 and I'm going to try to do it in mine. I feel like the mph that I've run in very poor conditions (10.26 @134.79) would translate to maybe just kissing the 9's if all the stars aligned. I know for a fact in certain vehicles it would because I have, so we'll see. I am more than happy to show every single timelslip I have, in full, so that there will be no confusion.
Everyone, please do not let one very odd and unfortunate forum circumstance denigrate anyone other than the person that has caused the situation. Conjecture and speculation help nothing.

I'm sorry to see this happen to the community, to Sam@ByDesign, and to anyone else involved. I know many people put a lot of hard work and time into pushing the platform and taking it to new levels. It's a true disservice to everyone associated that this happened and was very unfortunate to witness.
To echo what a couple others have said, I am very certain that Sam would never, ever condone this action and if anything, he has more to lose than gain. Many people who have bought upgraded turbos, etc would think they wasted their money seeing the initial results. Some of us know what it takes to get certain performance out of these cars and what set up works and doesn't. Every once in a while someone discovers something to maximize performance out of a setup and have the competitive edge. Competition like that helps us all work harder to be even faster and is generally good for everyone.
I think Sam, myself, and others were rooting for someone to raise the bar and break out of the box by doing something extraordinary. The level of detail in the supporting posts etc would never make me question the results. In fact, it made me think even harder of different ways of being fast than I may be exposed to. While I'm seasoned at drag racing, I'm always looking to learn something new and this situation was no different. I guess I did learn something new anyway, just not what I was looking for.
Anyway, lousy situation but hopefully this doesn't ruin the overall good, competitive nature of the forum and keeps everyone working hard.

even the autostart writing is the same. It is virtually impossible to get the same exact time to the thousands .
If this idiot E-gear, just manned up and said guys sorry. People would respect that more.
His BS comments , going to the track means Dick! he could run a 9.5 and it means nothing , that slip is NOT FROM HIS CAR. PERIOD. I don't care if he runs an 8 sec pass.

I am sure that Sam was not involved in this as I have been doing business with him for many years and you simply don't get a good reputation like his by cheating. This type of stuff always comes out to light eventually , $h|t always floats up to the top.

WOW. I was starting to think this forum was getting quiet then this happened lol
It's disturbing to think that someone would go to such great lengths fabricating a story. Makes you wonder what was the ultimate goal. Acceptance? Legacy? lol Even after being called out by some astute members, E-GEAR still remained aloof and almost arrogant, instead of just owning up to the fact he got caught lying. What a tool.
Having known Sam from ByDesign a little over 1 year, I can confidently say that he definitely has nothing to do with this. I'm not knowledgeable enough regarding logs and data collection to know if one could extrapolate ET and trap speed from logs or not, but regardless Sam has a great reputation and I know he would never put his name on the line for something like this.

Mr. WRS, I don't know what to tell ya brotha. From day one I always felt that you should run faster considering your mods, but somehow something is holding you back. Don't get wrong, running 10.50's to 10.60's is not slow, but it is also what some guys are running with only a Stage 1 tune and nothing else. Perhaps it is time for you to stop working around your current hardware and use a proven combo and tuner. I know it would be costly, but that is the only thing I can think of for now.
Try the ice trick and if you like. Remember, dollar stores have cheap foam coolers which fits perfectly in the frunk. You can load it up with ice cubes and used it at the track.

Some have called for the removal of this thread and a ban of E-gear...here are my thoughts on both. The thread is currently providing a service to the community by demonstrating what happens when you are a poser. We all rely on each other's honesty, especially when recommending products or tunes. The sanctity of this process needs to be preserved and in my opinion this thread needs to run its course. As far as banning E-gear? Perhaps, at some point but for now I believe he is getting the life lesson he requires to make him a man. I would hate to deny him that opportunity. Members that know Sam or have purchased his products will realize that he had no part in this.
