What's the funnest route to Palm Springs from San Diego?
I'm heading up to Palm Desert for a few days for business on Wed. morning, so I figured I'd might as well take the funnest route there.
I've heard of people making the trip just for the ride, so I know there has to be a pretty good pre-determind route that everyone takes.
Any help would be great.

Where you heading in PD?
Few things to hit up:
Armondos on El Paseo. Killer margaritas and decent mex food.
General shopping on El Paseo. It's the 'rodeo drive' of the desert. Right off highway 111 in PD, can't miss it.
Changs, Cheesecake Factory, and other decent places are right off Bob Hope and 111, just head west from downtown PD, can't miss them.

Anyway, I'm down for some Margaritas tonight so I'll definitely hit up Armondos.
Highways 79E to 371 to 111 was pretty fun! No one on the road and passing two cops ecsorting a huge wide load heading the other way within the first few minutes made for smooth sailing and fun driving. Looking fwd to the trip back.

I guess I'm just spoiled with good Mex food in San Diego, so I always have a hard time finding it when I'm not in SD.
The trip back was just as good!! Man I need to wake up at Day Break on a Sunday and take that trip with no traffic.
