We are having the Garrett Engineer's making a recommendation regarding the turbo's.
Let us know the out come on the engineer's have a good week-end !!!

I just received an interesting e-mail. I blanked the sender's name and country of orgin. They have done a fair amount of work on KA's motor. Needless to say, they are not an ordinary company. I can hardly wait to see what they come up with regarding turbo's and intake system.

Everytime I believe I'm finished ............. something new comes along.

Good morning Chad,

We have a project from (blank) based upon the 996 TT engine starting next month. It takes the rest of this month to get organized with parts etc.

I think this will be very similar to yours. We are at present spec’ing out the engine. The reason for contacting you is that we are in the middle of the Turbocharger design. Once we have decided upon a Turbo configuration, I will forward the info on. I think there may be some differences in engine spec, so I thought we should ask now. Do you know the final static compression of your engine? What is the exhaust design? If this information is proprietary, I understand. Please do not feel you need to supply if you do not wish to. The selection of Turbine wheel Trim and Turbine Housing size is important and the static compression and exhaust design, (pipe size, pipe length, merge design, primary to collector timing etc., dictates the Exhaust design of the Turbocharger. We have a lot more choices in Turbocharger parts and combinations than what is typically offered up for the street Tuner.

Although there is no real requirement for performance, the customer wants as much as possible I’m sure. Our goal is to produce the most Torque we can over the broadest RPM range.

The engine will be a 4.0L or 3.99L actually using the same parts as your new Grand Am prototype engine. The development of this engine is very useful now. We are looking at producing a new Intake system for this engine. This work will be done in (blank) for us. It is hoped that some of the Intake system that was developed for us for the Prototype engine can be used.

(blank)

Greg,

These motors are designed around the limit of under 4L. This was accomplished with a 80 mm crank and 102 mm pistons/liners.

Neil Harvey of Performance Developments did the heads, cams, crank and rods. The crank and rods were done in conjunction with Arrow Precision from the UK.

Just because you build a NASCAR, INDY, etc. motor doesn't mean you have to run it in NASCAR, Indy, etc. What is significant about this motor is it is in the frontier stages and the development costs we have paid (cams, crank, rods) have us right up there in the technology. We are not following anyone. Our people have had some visits from some very notable teams.

It will probably take a little time before these parts filter down to the tuners not activly supporting this new class. The good news is, these advancements will be available alot sooner than normal to the general public.
