Update
Got off the phone this afternoon. I was told by PD that because of the Holidays and some PRI show in Flordia we will hopefully be seeing the liners in mid January. Why am I not surprised?

WOODSTER,
I just received the following from Performance Developments. At least they are honest about the time they origionally quoted. If it wasn't for the extra thickness of these ductile iron liners I would have gone with the EVOMS liners which I probably would have already had.
I was really trying to have this car running by April. I'm beginning to have my doubts now. This has got to be the slowest engine build in the world.
There is no misunderstanding here. You are correct. I was given 1 month minimum for delivery. The best chance. Unfortunately, I’m told, production is behind (as usual) and we are now outside of this first estimated delivery. There is nothing I can do. If I could I would. I have asked them to put the order on rush as we need the parts.
This is the busiest time of the year as companies that we use are heavy into production of parts for the 2008 season. Add to this, they spend quite a lot of time getting ready to show off parts and services at both the US PRI show and the English Autosport show. In between we have the Christmas break.
It is by virtue of our relationships with these company’s that we even have the possibility of getting them to make them in the first place.

You guys are really in for a treat when all of this can be released. Below is part of a e-mail I recently received. Sorry no names or pics for now.
Hi Chad, Please don't let anyone see these pictures as this car is very much undercover for now. We've already done some testing with it and it's unbelievably fast.. only about 880 real hp at 1.4 bar and it can go to 1.8. The car has so far proven to be very reliable. It's pretty amazing.. I wish I could tell you all the stuff about it, but, they want to wait until the magazines articles come out. These are some pics before it has been painted so you can see all the parts we added to make it a wide body.
The body as be custom made so we can easily switch over (which you can see in the pictures) to Factory 997 RSR centerlocks which use the CGT nut. Not only cooler looking but a much lighter stronger real centerlock system which will work with the new uprights we have for your car. It allows you to easily get the 345 Michelins on the rear 13's and 295 on the front 11's! I can't tell you how cool this thing looks in real life. I'm putting the exact same set up on my car right now. The rear wing is a bit more than I'd like for the street but he wants it on this car for the track... Let me know if you're still thinking about doing this. It's now all figured out so it works very well.. As I said .. there is a ton more detail I can tell you about this set up. We are finding all kinds of benefits to this body on top of just looking wild... I'd love to do your car this way if you'd be interested. Check out the attached pics

The above e-mail is not from S Car Go. The e-mail author has in the past and is currently involved with our suspension, handling and body components. The pics he sent are not of KA but another car. What he is suggesting is I modify KA's body like the pics he sent. I apologize if I was misleading in any way in my above post.

I just received the following update from PD. If these are our liners, we will be on the way to final motor assembly.

Hello Chad,
Hope you had a great Christmas. I am sorry for the delay. I was sick over Christmas.
I came in yesterday afternoon to pick up messages etc. Today I have been here all day and have managed to get most calls answered etc. I have a message from the shipping company that I am about to receive a package. I expect this to be your Liners. I will be here Monday, so hopefully they will deliver them, then.
They still need to be finished honed to size, to match the Pistons you supplied. This will be done as soon as we get back here in 08. I do need to know what clearance is required with these Pistons. I had asked CP what they want, but I needed job # off the shipping box to reference against. I have not received this as of yet. As it was not urgent, I did leave this. I will contract Rob again, or take the Piston over to CP to match. I figure what it should be, but to be sure I would like to know their minimum clearance suggested.

Mike,
It seems like only yesterday (February 2004) when we made a run that bent all six rods.
Everything was in constant change from there.
It shouldn't be much longer to find out if all this work was worth it. It will be interesting to say the least.
We are not out of the woods yet. The big unknown is going to be the MAF. The MAF we are installing is a high pressure MAF rated for 1000 hp. This was the best we could locate. Our final build will be a high reving motor that will better that number, but it won't be reliable if the MAF doesn't hold up.

Because of the custom GT3 cam we had made to go with the GT3R heads, GT3R cam housings and World Cup Plenum in conjunction with the 996tt, we are using a 996tt ECU which has the GT3 program overwritten on it. This way the ECU can read the GT3 cam pointer markers which will start and operate the motor and the motor will be compatible with the rest of the 996tt. The only other thing we added was a voice activated boost controller because the GT3 program doesn't have provisions for boost control. We also had to use a GT3 anti lock system for the brakes.

I spoke to Neil @ Performance Developments today. My liners are in customs. Neil hopes to have them by Monday. Not really an issue as he is waiting for Rob @ S Car Go to send him the minimum clearance for the pistons so he can hone the liners.
So I call Rob and ask about the infomation and he said he would get it to Neil today. While talking I inquired how his schedule is for assembling my motor. Rob said there are three motors in front of mine which according to him equates to a two month wait to start on mine.
Hell, what's another two months when the car will have been down four years coming this February.

I was given a bid four years ago to design and assemble this motor less the cost of cam development (which would be an addition). I paid for all the parts. The labor was paid in advance. I'm sure this motor has cost them far more in labor than quoted. We all learned alot from this experience. Much of this was cutting edge and what was believed to be correct was not necessarily so.
The fact they are completing the work without complaint, says everything about their reputation. I never heard anything more than "I ran out of labor along time ago" or "this thing is killing me." We all know of past horror stories of tuners and engine builders hanging their customers out to dry for alot less money than involved in this project. S Car Go Racing has always stood by their word. Yes, the wait is frustrating, however I'm a patient guy and in the end I'm sure it will be right.
