Video:Porsche 991 CS v Nissan GT-R at track
I wear a suit sometimes in my GT-R...
Thanks for the link! Wasn't a bad review. I'm impressed that Tiff was able to keep the CS within 3 secs of the GT-R. Hopefully, if this is an indicator, the Turbo or GT3 will fare much better. I'm generally not a fan of 'lower' end 911's, but the 991 just looked like a lot of fun.
I agree with some about the wild comparison based on purchase price. I mean - we aren't comparing an Aston Martin Vantage to a ZR-1, are we? It's not like we don't know the outcome... Or a Boxster S to a Lexus LS (or whatever they are now). Keep the competitors together. It makes for a more relevant review. I don't think anybody expected the CS to be anywhere near the performance of the GT-R.

I'm wondering when other Porsche owners are going to take notice that everybody is doing the same thing.
some of us have...but to give any constructive criticism on this board is looked down on by a few members.
Agreed. Seiko might keep better time, but it won't hold value and lacks the prestige of a Rolex.
I'll consider my black on black base C2 a Rolex Explorer I. All business, no fluff

They must gain new customers and retain the old ones.
they don't want to be left behind in the race for fastest lap time.. hence the need for electronic aids.
but they don't want to dilute the driver involvement associated with driving a 911.
its a fine line..
good thing Porsche has so many variations of 911

re GTR: everyone knows its a monster.. and everyone knows its a great value sports car.. just like ZR1 and z06.
its certainly a dilemma for Porsche as a for-profit company.

By coincidence, I recently read that, off the record, some executives in Swiss watch companies consider the Grand Seiko to be the best mechanical watch currently made.
Also, I think of Porsche as closer to Tag Heuer than Rolex, which is why I got the former - indeed, the 'Carrera' model!

I need this stuff as a break from work, which is routinely stressful.
I have said it many times...the 991 can be a tiger but you need the skill and courage to make it so.
I know you take offense when someone sleights the GTR but he's right. In terms if general perception, Nissan will always be the Seiko in this comparison.
