First post so hello to everyone! Thought I'd sign-up to the site as I've finally discovered the cause of a major rattle on my 991S!

I took delivery of my car at the beginning of May - Platinum Silver (great color), Carrera Classic, Pdk, SPASM, full leather, plus all the other toys so pretty much fully loaded - from the first day I have been plagued with rattles. As per some other posts these rattles also affected the front speaker quality (Bose) - to cut a long search short the culprit is the door card itself. If you open either door and tap the very front edge of the door card it will chatter and vibrate against the shell of the door - I fixed mine by inserting a folded $1 bill between the return on the door card & door itself. Rattle cured & speakers no longer affected!!

I have checked other cars at my dealer and they all have the same fault - same dealer is now investigating permanent fix and has said they will advise Porsche for possible tech bulletin. Anyways thought I'd share...not what I had expected from a near $140k car but hey ho.....oh and I still have squeak from passenger rear window..grrrrrr

Thanks! Can you post a picture of the area, I'm not sure I follow where exactly you are referring too. Mine seems to rattle near the front passenger speaker (I thought) and the passenger rear window like yours.

 

what's a door card?

 

Just figured it out! I'll post a pic when I get home. I slipped an index card folded twice between the metal part of the door and the plastic/leather part of the inside door housing in the front part of the door just above and ahead of the front speaker. Works great. Thanks OP!

When I say door card (Sorry I'm British) I'm refering to the internal panel - basically the panel with the arm rest, door release etc. - if you open either door and go to the front edge of this panel (towards the door hinge) and tap with the flat of your hand you will see the panel chatter against the metal of the actual door itself......by inserting a piece of folded paper into the gap you will stop the rattle.......and your speaker will be perfect - I to thought I had a faultly speaker!

Glad it's working for you guys as well! Now if I can just find that squeak....

 

both of my front doors rattle and shake like no other, with the bass i can understand to an extent but it's not good. dealer "fixed" a rattle against the speaker but the whole card still rattles.

Have the same issues in my two months old C4. Dealer says this is 'normal'. Don't like it at all.
