Automatic Cab top

For all of you Cab owners, are you able to open the cab top with the key fob from outside of the car? I know in some of my previous cars I could\can open the windows and sunroof with the key as approach the car. I have read that you can and that you can't with the 991. I asked the dealer and he was unsure as well. I have also see that it comes standard European 991's but was disabled on US models.
Can anyone confirm either way?

Here is a pretty cool link with good info and lots of great pics. http://stuttcars.com/porsche-models/911/991/carrera/
This section in particular talks about the top.

Cabriolet roof and WindStop

The 911's soft top was completely redesigned for 991, although it looked very good already starting with the 996 Cabriolet. The top is a humpless 3-piece magnesium unit covered with smooth and trim fabric. A water channel on the roof ensures that no rainwater drops into the entry area when the doors are opened. As in previous 911’s, the top is fully electric and can also be opened with the remote control button on the key. The top makes its move in just 13 seconds. And like before, it is operable up to vehicle speeds of 50 km/h / 30 mph.
991 Cabrios have electric wind deflectors as standard equipment. Just press the button and in 2 seconds the wind is stopped.

I don't think us cars have the remote top function. Liability reasons.

Mods4Cars Smart Top module does this and more. No more holding down the button inside, windows up/down preferences, remote operation, etc etc.

Great product, I installed one on a C4S a while back and now waiting for them to release the 991 version (December I think).

What liability concern? I'm standing next to my car pushing a button to open the windows and top. What do they think is going to happen?

Fingers get caught, etc. Americans are litigious. Porsche doesn't offer one touch operation ( have to hold the button) for the same reason. Makes me wonder though, what about those trunk and door openers on minivans.

At some point we have to start taking responsibility for stupid things we do. Very frustrating how we sue for everything here in the US. Anyway, the mods4cars looks interesting. On the site it seems to show the key with a 4th button for the top in what is a blank spot now on the key fob. Wonder how that works? The other options also sound nice.

The SmartTop (as I understand it) just works with our Porsche key fob - we will just press the regular buttons twice or tree times (or hold) - something like that, to do all the remote opening and closing stuff. It's completely self-contained in the wiring harness of the car. Easy to install. Really amazing product, I've installed two of them (other was in an Audi S5 cab) and just waiting for it to be released for this car. I hate holding the regular top button down inside too..hehe. This makes it effortless. Can walk out to car and top opens while you approach, and as you lock car walking away the top closes and locks into place. It's great.

Sounds just like what I was wanting. I'll keep an eye on their site for when they release the one for the 991.
