Evo article comparing 991 4S with X51 power kit to Audi R8 V10

[/IMG]There's been so little information on the power kit that I thought this may be of interest to the 6speeders. Enjoy!

Great article. I happen to agree with the verdict. I have the V8 R8 (2011) and a C2S and the author is spot on with his comparison of the handling.
The only disagreement I have is that the V8 R8 sound is orgasmic. I have listened to the V10 and V8 side by side and the V8 is a classic muscle car growl and is surprisingly much better than the V10.
In every other way I prefer my 991.

That an MT 991 was so close is interesting. PDK would have been closer yet in performance.

i've yet to testdrive the r8, but did consider it on the not so short list of next cars to buy. love the verdict here, but we're all biased! imho the r8 isn't a dd, just too flashy in the real world and the 2 seater makes it slightly more impractical than the impractical 991. nice to see this comparison, but perhaps 2 different lifestyles for each of these cars.

"Steep though it is, the Powerkit really is worth the money, imbuing the 3.8 with the same same addictive top-end pizzazz that we love in the base 911's smaller 3.4-litre engine."

Having a MT base, that's the most interesting comment to me and makes me wonder what they mean. Well, other than that the base is a lot of fun too.

I'm about 2/3 through break-in, absolutely love the car, and just need to get through the final miles even more quickly now. With warmer weather arriving, that should be much easier.

Want to lose your mind - drive a R8 V10 spyder with manual transmission on a warm spring day. It's the best of the R8's.

I love my C4S for many reason, but especially love the room it has inside. I was an NSX owner (a 1993 and a 2002) until I bought my first Porsche. The bulkhead on the NSX and the R8 made it feel too confined to me...just MY personal taste.

I love Evo because they say such nice things about the 3.4l engine. Here are some other things that they said about this "masterpiece":

Buy a base or get the X51, don't get stuck in the middle
