I'll keep my 991s.
Was obviously faster but didn't feel nearly as connected to the road. Had a sort of wobbly feel to it.
The exhaust sounds great but for some reason I prefer the sound and feel of my 991.
Was shocked to feel the 991 is an all around superior car.

As an all round package to live with every day the 991 is hard to beat in my opinion. It may very well be the best, most versatile car in the world !
Right before I pulled the trigger I was tempted by a used Gallardo Superleggera (my dreamcar, I adore the looks, the sound) that cost less money. But honestly, who can live with a Gallardo Superleggera every day ? Fancy me putting my golfgear in there ! Not gonna happen.

I must have driven a different 458 then... while I adore my 991, the Italia is on a whole different level IMHO. I had 3 laps in the 458, and I'd punch a baby straight in the face for owning one.
The only current model Porsche that should be compared to the 458 would be the 991 Turbo S. With the 458 you'll get lots of looks and stares and rock star treatment but you'll know deep down that the 991 Turbo S can have you for lunch anytime it wants and rock stars don't take kindly to being humbled. The extra $100+ grand it costs to only achieve "look at me" status is hardly worth punching a baby in the face for, IMHO.

Since we have not driven the 991 Turbo S I can't rally comment on it. But yes, it is safe to say that its numbers will be insane. But again, the 458 will provide a very different experience and feel. To me it isn't all about speed.
I had to google Alessandro Ambrioso...

Yeah, I'd pick the 458 over a 991 S, without too much thought. But a Ferrari could NEVER be the only car in stable, that is my problem with it. A 911, GT-R, or Corvette could make it as a daily/sports car. A Ferrari, in my opinion, cannot. It MUST be supplemented with another, more practical car (as stated above).

while its no 911 in terms of practicality, the 458 is a good DD. the Boot is good size , the Dual clutch Tranny is smooth (faster then PDK), the ride is excellent and the 7yr maintenance program is awfully comprehensive

I think the 911 will also run much longer, be more reliable and more practical.
