Valet mode

I know we don't have one in our 991, but what are things we should watch out for when we receive our vehicles back from the dealers? G meter?

Nothing except for excessive service fees

Is there a way (for the dealer or aftermarket) to electronically limit the speed or RPM?
At some point my son is going to take my 991 on a date.....

Yeah there is a way. It's called not giving anyone the key

Giving a teenage boy a Porsche... well might as well give him a loaded gun as well...

Just saying...

The conclusion I reached on this topic was: bad idea for my kid to drive my sports car for a night. But as a compromise, for school dances, he can pick up his date and drive to either the pre-dance pictures or dinner (whichever comes first.) I then bring the family clunker to that location and trade out cars. He gets a brief taste (after proving he could drive with me in the car and a fairly stern lecture) and I don't worry about him out until all hours. Now, when he's in his 20s, maybe he can take it on a date....

I hear you. The keys are out of his reach for now. Just thinking out loud!

Anyway, I was thinking of something reversible to limit speed on these lines....

I know the 991 is a great car, but I have to look at it this way.....these service techs and lot guys drive these 911s around the lot all day every day, and I doubt a 911 would get abused speedwise by anyone working at a Porsche Dealer.

Kind of like working at an ice cream shop....when you have access to it all day long, it is really not such a huge great any more.

I would be more concerned with Valet parking at a restaurant or similar, personally, mores than a P Dealer.

If you set the Limits within the computer to a certain speed, at least the car will beep when you hit that number. At the least, you can tell your son that the car records such speeds over the Limit. (It may actually -- I'm not sure).

+1

Besides, really, these cars are built to go fast, so someone going fast isn't really an issue. Running it into the redline, running it into a tree, or a curb... that's where the problem lies. I don't worry about the techs doing that, it's the lot guys that I don't want messin' with the car, which is why I always decline the complimentary wash.
