PCCB (Carbon Ceramic Brakes) Noise?

Guys, My friend is close to pulling a trigger on a dealer-offered 2018 991 Targa with carbon ceramic brakes. 20k miles. Will be street driven only (Northeast).

I know in the past, these brakes have been known to be noisy.

Can anyone share some personal experience from the past few model years as far as whether the brakes are noisy and any other issues he shoudl be aware of (other than making sure they are in good condition at the time of sale)?

Thanks in advance

I have them on my 992. Not a peep from them even in the winter. However my winters are only in the 40 degree range, so depending on where you live you may get some more squeaks. I’ve read that even in freezing temperatures, once they are warmed up some, the squeaks will go away. Other than that, they’re easier to keep clean and provide amazing performance benefits! Also, they’ll last 150-200k miles before needing to be changed. So they pay for themselves. Good luck!

So I have been told but the PCCBs on my new street-driven 2015 have been dead quiet, not some of the time or most of the time...but all of the time. Maybe it has something to do with mileage as it only has just under 3000 miles on it.

My 2014 TTS has PCCB, and my 2008 TT had it also. There are some situations where they make noise, but it's rare. There are two specific intersections where it happens. In both cases, it's typically a low-speed approach to a stop sign or stop light, on a downhill grade. It's more prevalent in my 2014 (larger brakes) than it was in my 2008. Overall, it's uncommon and nothing that bothers me.

Have them on my 2018, no noise. Had them on my 2013, no noise. YMMV.

No noise on my Targa GTS after about 4k miles; had them added when the car had just under 1k miles. And they look great as well:

My 2016 GT3RS is very quiet but my 997TT makes noise. The harder you drive it the less noise it makes you need to get heat into them.

My 14TTS brakes are dead quiet and zero dust, even after 21000 miles!
Love them!!
