A VERY custom 996 GT2 "RSR"...
It is. He has built and modified many 993 cars over the years. There are quite a few fine examples of 993 race cars he has built that are in storage for customers at his facility.
I am told by the builder that it saves about 35 lbs on the back end and adds about 12 lbs to the nose, where you need it.
Here are a couple more engine update pics.

Both GT2's and GT3's come with SOLID mounts from the factory. You won't see these parts listed individually on PET because they are only included on the support side section for those cars. If you wanted to update your standard turbo these mounts are available after market.
So this is 100%..?
The cup and RSR have diffrent part nr so thats is also strange
But, they all do come with soild adapter mounts rather than rubber.
Depending on which year Cup and/or R/RS/RSR the supports are all machined to different heights where they attach to the chassis/tub. As a result they all have different part numbers (there are a few other changes as well from car to car)

Thanks, at last someone that seems to know what he talks about
I have been told rubber, solid, rubber, solid, rubber, solid for weeks now i hade decided that i needed to remove the subframe so i would take a look by my self so i know for sure what is needed and not
Call Leslie @ Smart Racing 408.369.997 and ask for the 997 solid carriage supports mounts ... you can tell her Cary told you call if there's any questions. The other cool thing the do is actually raise the rear pick up points up a little helping improve your roll center. You may find a slight increase in road noise but I've found it to be surprisingly not noticable.
Awesome thread. What a wealth of imformation!
Badgt2, more power(
) to ya with a great build. I am running the JRZ 3way and find them a great track/street setup. Very happy with them.
Please keep the pics and info coming! Your engine is pure art.
Jean, thanks also for your informed input. Cool to see you both are so much on the same page.
Having just spent a day at Thunderhill where there were a couple of 997 cup cars testing all day, its hard to imagine 6 seconds faster per lap. What track are you referring to?

1BADGT2, this project is nothing short of amazing.
This is going to make all the other modded cars on this board look like a joke, maybe except for Chad's car, though I'm still betting your car will be quite a bit faster on the track still with the widebody, wider tires, and updated suspension bits.
I am looking forward to seeing your car someday. You are in great hands with Cary and Loren. Cary has taught me a lot about Porsche suspensions. He is the man!

You are more than welcome to see the car at Loren's shop, and thank you for the kind words. Again, Cary and Loren have been the best at advising me. They have really made this project fun.
As I said before, I had a new GT2 on order when I decided to change direction and do this project. It would have been a lot cheaper to trade in the 2002 GT2 and buy the new one...but I really do not think it would have been nearly as fun...and I am sure the new GT2 will not hold a candle to this car when it is completed.
