How to identify a true X50 996tt?
How to identify a true X50 996tt?
I apologize for the ignorance but I have been searching a lot of different sites and see many (more like a few) cars advertised as having the X50 turbo option.
Is there a way, vin # or something, to verify that these are true X50 cars without seeing the the original sticker.
Thanks for your help.

To tell from looking, checkout the intercoolers from the back bumper the way the are aligned vs. stock configuration is different, i forget different how, but just different, and that is THE ONLY way to tell from the outside of the car

smooth surface = non X50
Rough surface + X50

Yellow brake calipers signify optional carbon/ceramic brakes. These were standard on the very rare '05 Turbo S (which also included X50 pkg as standard). MY '02 - '04 were available with X50 pkg as a ~$19k option. The presence of yellow calipers on those MYs DOES NOT mean X50 pkg is on the car. BTW, there was no X50 pkg available on '01 MY.
Wow so much mis-information.
Any TT can have upgraded GT2 intercoolers. The only reliable way to identify an X50 car is to look at the options sticker under the hood for "X50" or have your dealer run the VIN and give you an options list.

Bingo, PM me the VIN and I will have a look to see if your car is an X50.
