Want to go faster??
ok this is off topic but I felt some members of this forum would appreciate this article http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/art...os-vs-schmoes/
it goes along with some of the things I have been saying....the best way to make yours or any car go faster is to learn how to drive it!!!
also I kinda harp on the whole traqmate data analysis thing while may not help the street guys it is invaluable on the track

Tom, Thank you for posting this article.
There are a number of people here who think they have bought THE porsche and because of social status, they should be afforded the ability to buy driving skills. Quite honestly, this couldn't be further from the truth. People learn to drive by driving at speeds on road courses. I've seen members time and again get lapped by MIATAS in the talent sections.
If you want to get the most out of your Porsche, you should spend zero in mods. Buy some time with an instructor, and then buy some more. It's that simple. Porsche built a great car. Learn to drive it before you modify it into some frankenCar that Ferdie wouldn't recognize!

Great advice Mike and Tom. I have the luxury of having several good tracks near me. Also I have several offers of people who are willing to teach how to drive. How would you decide who should teach you? My indy races for a Mazda team. Should we stick to Porsche experts only?
Now that I've had children since 2003, and the track is a 3 hour drive from my home, I'm lucky if I get there once / year. Hence, I suck. This past summer, the pit lane marshal told me he was getting reports that I was "taking some pretty unusual lines out there and should back off a bit".
How sad is that! Now I'm contemplating GT30's to get me from stoplight to stoplight faster!

Great article. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the editors this weekend at Cars and Cafe, he was very into our Camo car and our goals with it, hoping to get some collaboration in the future for some 996tt articles.

bottom line for them in a nutshell "get off the brakes and get on the gas" then you go faster (if you are still on the track) biggest thing I have noticed is braking too hard for a corner and not carrying the speed and momentum you really could through a corner. problem is to really be going fast (at least for me when racing) you really need to feel like you are almost out of control in every corner cause ya are! if you think you are driving smooth you are going to slow.
I feel much better now...as I improved and got smoother....the feeling of losing control did creap in.
Just kidding. Great thread.
Traqmate and seat time....and more the the latter....
My car, stock, was way more than I needed..... Key is time and respect.

Tom,
Thanks for starting this thread. I got a Traqmate for Xmas, and am looking forward to getting on track and learning. Unfortunately as a non-Floridian, that isn't going to be for another 117 days, 14 hours and 35 minutes.
Happy holidays!
