Nevermind. There is a release tab to get it off.

Found details here

Thank you to the OP and for keeping the pictures live since 2009! Super write-up. FYI, my Xenon headlights started acting up, only coming on occassionally until they finally gave out completely. Parking, tail, and fog lights continued to work fine. I didn't try cleaning the contacts, called Suncoast and got a new switch for $100 (local dealer wanted $175). It is about a 15min job very easy. The PN for the switch is 996-613-535-00 and don't be alarmed if the headlights don't come on after you complete the job, you might have forgotten to reconnect the battery or put the key in the ignition.

Great pics and write up

Thanks for the write up!! I know I couldn't have done this without your write up. Very satisfying to do it myself instead of shelling out hundreds to a garage!! Thanks!!

Just to show you the interior of the switch at fault. Here's some pictures of a switch that seems to be good from the outside but completely destroy inside…Thanks to Randal from Renntech for the pictures….

Thumbs up

Thanks for the detailed description. Before going the whole hog and taking the switch out, I removed the switch **** and sprayed into the switch with contact cleaner, using some paper towel to prevent drips. I replaced the **** and rotated a good few times and it's worked! All without removing the switch
So I'd suggest giving this a try before removing the switch itself, took me ten minutes
I would not even have tried this without these instructions though. Thanks again.

I had the same issue.... main beam wouldn't come on without fiddling the switch. Just replaced it with a new one. $110 is worth the peace of mind ;-)

Thanks for the write up. I did manage to prey off the sticker accidentally - bummer. But was able to put it back on without an issue.

Great to see that this thread is still reasonably active.

How are you guys getting the bezel off? This is step 7 from the instructions. It appears that mine is stuck and just won't come off. I'm ruining my leather trim in the process of trying to get it off .

Any tips?

IIRC there is a nut that has to be removed first over the stem.

Yup. Got the nut off and the switch is disconnected. But, the actual bezel is stuck. Seems like you need to pry it off. I've tried that and I've also tried to push it out from behind, but I'm just damaging the trim right now. Any tips?

People are using MAF cleaner. What about strict contact aerosol spray? Will that work, too?

Big thank you!

No lights, to lights in 20 minutes!

Without this DIY, there is NO WAY, I would have pulled the vent hard enough to get access; I owe you a beer! KH
