Mike - how short is the 997 SSK in comparison to the B&M SSK?

I assume it's smoother in some way?

The 996 ssk as my car came with...factory equipped, was set up by DAS to be super smooth, and they optimized it. Sometimes it seems hard to get into a lower gear, 2nd in particular....

Is this shifter better in that regard?

Does anyone have an explination as to why the 997SSK would be smoother than the BM?

What is the difference in manufacture which gives a smoother action?

Mike,
I bought my 996TT with the B&M already installed. If I were to purchase the 997SSK, would there be any additional parts I would need? What I mean is that if there was anything OEM removed when the B&M was installed prior to my purchase, I don't have it...
