Fender liners
Fender liners
I am contemplating replacing all the fender liners for '02 996TT ...do you think there is any difference between the turbo and the 996 GT2 liners? I think the front of the 2 peice liners on the front of the car are different, any adavantage in gettign the GT2 front liners? I talked to a dealer today that said that the GT2 front liners had slats for some sort of cooling duct...besides that the GT2 front liners cost a bit more than the standard turbo's front wheel liners...I think the rear half of the fronst are the same and the rear 2 peice linders are the same on both cars?? right?
Also running the 996TT front bumper would I Be able to fit the GT2 liners...
is it worth considering, or should I just stick with the factory 996TT liners

was told that the extra vents/slats on the gt2 liners work with the gt2 ducting from the gt2 bumper I guess...dunno if the turbo has that ducting since the bumpers are different...I thought the slats were to pull more air thru the radiators but looks like that's not the case...what's this about the gt2 liner having more room..I guess for larger tires? would be good for 245/18" track tires I suppose? any thoughts?

May I ask where are you going to buy those GT2 fender liners?
I'd love to know if the GT2liners allow for more wheel/tire room. I need to replace one and I'm running 235's on the front which brush the existing (cracked ) liner on full lock.
The gt2 front liner redirects the air flow out of the radiators to blow on the backside of the brakes and out the wheel. Turbo liner just dumps the air out. no direction. The rear lower rear liner and bracket (mounts to the intercooler bracket) give more room for the 12 inch rim to fit and not rub.

It depends what bumper you have. 996tt direct air out the radiators to blow out the bottom of the bumper and the wheel well is pretty sealed up. GT2's are sealed up from the bottom so like Tim said, they direct air flow out of the radiators to blow on the backside of the brakes and out the wheel.
So is there any advantage or can you run the GT2 front front liner for (1) better air to the brakes (or would you need the GT2 bumper cover and extra parts for this)? Also will the Gt2 front liner fit onto the 996TT bumper and offer a bit more front clearance with slightly wider tires?
(2) run the GT2 rear rear liner for the extra tire room out back? Will this bolt right up or are there extra parts (brackets, hardware etc..) needed to make this work?
(3) I know that the front rear liner are the same between the 996TT and the GT2....I am assuming that the rear front liners are the same also...am I right?
Just looking at the best solution for wheel liners, since I am replacing them anyway want to do it with the best options without breaking the bank or having to replace them later...what are your thoughts guys?

I bought a set of Sportec Front cooling ducts from Kevin at UMW. They work great and direct air to the rotors. I can squeeze the 245s up front. I think looking into the GT2 rear fender liners would be a good replacement for the rears (I have 335s).
I assume that they work with the 996TT front half of the front wheel liners?
