Stradale vs TT

Ben - we can always count on you to bring things back to reality. Seeing I have both a TT "S" and the CS, I was going to chime in yesterday when the comparison question was first posted - now I feel the need (BTW, I cannot feel the difference between a stock TT and my X50 "S"). The real difference between the two cars from a rookie's point of view (mine) is torque. There's nothing like flooring a TT at around 4k rpms. Unfortunately, you redline too quickly. With the TT, I always find myself driving the car around 4k rpms, whereas with the CS, it's 5500 + up to the 8,500 redline to compensate for the lack of torque. I love the TT for its power and the fact that it's so easy to drive; however, as Ben says, you have to look at the CS as a whole package - sound, race car like interior, and "make me drool" exterior.Originally posted by ben, lj

Ben, maybe there is something I'm missing... but other than the sound of the motor which is cool, I really don't see any reason to get rid of the GT2 for a Stradale. IMHO to me the boost of the GT2 coupled with its handling is actually more exciting for me.
It is however, a better car than a stock Turbo. And a touch better than the GT3. Although I think I would still prefer a GT3-RS based on what I think that car would be like to drive.
What bothers me about the CS is the utter lack of torque. I really can't see how Watt would think it's a better mountain car than the GT2. I think he might have forgotten how fast the GT2 is going uphill.

I know which car I could pick up more chicks in tho... Panties drop in the F-car. Porsche don't make panties drop- that is a given fact. Well maybe the CGT...
Which sound do you like better Ben, the CGT or the Stradale? I've heard both and it's a tough call... Only driven the latter and not the CGT (they'd never let me drive one of those lol).

it's a tough call for me too. i think inside the stradale is better (particularly if the tops are on the CGT) and outside the CGT is.Originally posted by sharkster

At least you don't need to worry about having a stereo:PDoes it seem to you like the CGT revs so much more freely? I wasn't sure if it's because of the F1 system but from hearing a CGT rev it must have some crazy lightweight flywheel because it revs so darn fast.

the CGT revs WAY faster. one of the most amazing things you'll hear on the CGT is what you don't hear. the engine instantly ceases making a peep when the key is turned off. i've never "not heard" anything like it! Originally posted by sharkster

and actually, the stereo in the CGT is quite good (stradale's sucks) and under 4500 RPM I can even hear it :-)

That's what I was thinking but I just didn't know. I saw a guy at the dealer trying to reverse his CGT and he was having a hard time as it revved too fast for himOriginally posted by ben, lj

I'll bet he got used to it quick tho...Does anyone have the old shots from back in late 2000? I guess it was a concept car back then. I just wonder how close it was to the real thing.
Just don't tell me you're playing the Porsche CD with different exhaust notes on that PHAT system...

yes, this is actually the true reason people iniitially have difficulty with the clutch. the engine revs so quickly and easily while dropping just as easily which can make feathering the clutch challenging before you adjust to the throttle sensitivity.Originally posted by sharkster

Ahhh... well I'm used to all the manual cars I ever drive having light wieght flywheels. I just need to work out a payment plan on the CGT (in my dreams anyways).Originally posted by ben, lj

I saw one on the road last week and the guy in it seemed so darn happy. He looked at me in my ghetto TT and smiled. My wife told me to close my mouth since it was rude

I looked at the Stradale before I bought my tt. I know it's not quite fair when comparing modded cars, but my modded tt will destroy a stradale, at way less money and much higher reliability/lower operating costs.
I wanted the best performing streetable track car and the porsche turbo is it.
(although an arguement could be made for a Corvette, Elise, or maybe the Viper).

All the factors you mention for choosing the TT over the Stradale, don't apply when you just gotta' have a StradaleOriginally posted by ColorChange

i love hearing all the "for way less money" and "lpwer operating costs", etc rationale. tt owners mod up their blotted porkers and are still left with a heavyweight AWD. the cars are worth a fraction of what they have in them and the money they spent on mods is flushed right down the drain. otoh, i bought my stradale 7 months ago for $8k over MSRP. i have four people interested in paying me $2k over MSRP at the present (with one being a WHOLESALER) - and the car isn't even advertised! tell me the bedtime story again about the money delta?Originally posted by cig1

ps. i betcha i could drive it another 7 months and not lose another $1 (save for the annual oil change).
Ben, I agree with everything you wrote except you missed one critical part in my analysis...
I wipe your *** off the track with my fat, cheap, depreciating porker.
