so an update..

of COURSE after all that sh*t i ordered the WRONG $80.00 friggin hose from porsche with very little help figuring it out mostly on my own, and when i picked it up yesterday after waiting a week it looked WAY to long for the small hose ( that looked like #11 & # 12 in the TB schematics! but thats NOT where the hose was, which was to the left of the plenum as i mentioned ad nauseum!..it was just about the RIGHT side of the plenum and about a 3 inch hose ( could finally SEE IT once removed ) so with wrong hose still in porsche's $90.00 plastic bar coded BAG! my very resourceful buddy and i ( well... ) and with some coolant hose of the exact same diameter we cut a piece of hose and replaced the "collapsed" section and presto/chango, i'm fully back to 1.3 bar with zero leaks. though i wasn't able to pressure test since there's now a 997 waiting for a new clutch ( which i'm sure he'll have in/out in about 4 hours ) sitting in the driveway impeding access to the ( again ) compressor!

but no leaks, as far as i can tell, and i ran the snot out of it on a variety of freeway/canyons home.

oh, the ingenuity of it all

HAH, all because it lists for 90. you're too much man.. like i said...

fyi.. its the "oil breather hose" from the tank down, and i thought it ended at the point just to the right and BELOW the plenum. problem is...in the schematics I've found, it ws NOT either 11 or 12 in the TB schematic?!? unless I'm reading that sh*t wrong which is entirely possible.

i'm a fkn 5th grade dropout. what do i know from "schematics"? nothing at all.

had i actually SEEN this post? i would've ordered the correct part. as #26 IS the FKN correct hose. belatedly, thanks. i "made" one.

but absent that diagram, i did order the "breather hose" from the oil tank but what i got was too long since it was wrong. i never saw that schematic at the auto atlanta site.. or here. i have NO idea how this post of yours got past me, as it's obvious.. to me NOW that 26 is correct. doesn't matter now but i sure wish i'd seen it.

but i got it fixed. its all just rubber hoses and as long as the length and diameter/material are correct? i dont care if it's got an oem part number or not. just that it works!

( ok fellas.. flame away for magyvering it lol )

What is everyone using for an air compressor? I have a very tiny garage so I dont have much room to put another big item. Honestly just need it to top up tires and do this test.

Small is better than nothing but makes it difficult to hear the leaks when the compressor is constantly running.

In doing the pressure test at the turbo inlets, do you guys have some sort of standard thats acceptable.
For example has to hold 20 psi for 2 mins?
I have a very small leak I can hear deep up in there, can't figure it out. It seems very minor but have nothing to compare it too.

I can't tell. A very faint leak somewhere foreword of the MAF. Sprayed soapy water on everything. Touched and wiggled everything. New diverter valves.

Probably because you have some leaking dvs.
Take the air box out. Use a 2ft. Garden hose and stick it in there. To the right there is a hole for dvs. Put the hose there and then next to your ear and pressure test. If it's quiet it's ok. Then it's your plastic line connected to the drivers side pre turbo

Not thinking its the Dv's. My dv's are brand new 710N's. The leak was heard before and after changing the dv's. They were changed because one had a ruptured diaphragm(confirmed via mitivac)

Anyone have an answer to my question to if there is a standard to meet, like holding 20psi for 2 mins?

I understand that any leak is reducing available boost, but if its a leak you can barely hear in a quiet garage at night I'm not sure its worth going crazy over.

Thoughts?

BTW- This car is new to me and I'm really enjoying learning how it works, it's pretty cool stuff!

There's no standard, 20psi for 2min is completely sealed. I'd be happy with 20psi for 20sec. Mine bleeds down to 5psi over 2min and I'm happy with that. I can hear a very small hiss, spent a while looking for it and couldn't find it so I left it. No performance issues for me.
Do another test in a few months to make sure it's not getting worse.
