Since I don't see anyone dreaming of horses, I added a 2009 Ferrari Scuderia to my 996 GT2 and 360 Spider:

Car is going to Esoteric Detail in Ohio for full detail, and clear bra. Studio 47 will be doing a full fluid change and adding an RSC Tuning Veloce exhaust.

My next car after my 996 GT2 and my 911 (964) will be a 993...
I allways look at the 997 gt2 but its to expensive and I will loose too much money with it!
The price for a 996 Gt2 will not fall any more! I have mine for two years now and there was no movement.
Also the price for the 993 will rise!
The Gallardo looks good but after a porsche its a step back! It drives heavy and feels not really quick around corners! and its not relieable!
the GTR is to big and heavy...

No better WOW factor than a Lambo G spyder and I've had mine for 3 years and RELIABILITY thus far has been no different than owning the Porsche.
I love my TURBO S but it will be going soon.
I've got my eye on an 03 F 360 that i can pretty much trade even for

I know is not exactly an upgrade, but they sure are a lot of fun...2012 ZR-1 and 2013 Shelby GT500 (650HP).
Reliable, 600+HP, 6sp, RWD, Daily Driver capabilities, etc.
But if the OP needs to step up with a reliable, beautiful, fast, easy to maintain, ageless car and see the Italians eye to eye: Ford GT or Porsche Carrera GT.

My next car would be whatever car that looks like a Civic(or any other regular car) but drives like a 996tt, if it ever existed...
It's not about what you drive, it is how you drive it. Love my 996tt.

I plan to convert mine to rwd if I ever get bored of it. I hear it basically turns it into a whole new beast. Good enough for me. I love my tt and the only thing I'll replace it with is a 997tt. Not really digging the 991 looks right now but maybe it will grow on me.

Hi everyone, nice thread and thanks for starting it!
I recently got myself a 996tt and do not plan to sell it in the nearest future.
My everyday car progressed as follows: Nissan Sunny -> Renault Logan -> Mazda 6 2.0 -> Audi A5 3.2Q. When I was getting an Audi I said to myself: I will not drive a weak car anymore, what I'm getting is fast and powerful. However, I was stupid enough to not get an S5 whereas there wasn't a big difference in price.
Now, when getting a Porsche I said to myself: I will get the fastest my budget allows so that I don't have to sell it in the future for an upgrade. I had $40K at my disposal (I could also get a 997 Carrera), however I went for a 996tt X50 and I don't regret it even for a sec. The previous owner installed GT2 brake kit from Brembo along with R19s and KW shocks, he also claimed engine is tuned up to 520hp but every Porsche driver says that.
I did consider other options: Audi R8 and DB9, BMW X6 5L.0. I would have to sell my Audi for that, though and I'm glad I didn't because I love the Audi too.
As for R8, we have a bunch of folks here who own this car in Moscow and the feedback hasn't been great. They cannot be serviced at any Audi dealership, you need an R8 certified Audi workshop for that, also service is more expensive than for regular Audis. A guy had a problem with steering system which dealers couldn't address here in Moscow - a weird problem he never got explained.
Then, R8 is basically a detuned Gallardo, so why get an R8 then? Better wait and save some more money and get a Gallardo.
As for GT-R, I personally don't like how this car looks, it's a Japanese car, my wife has a G25 and on the whole it's sort of cheap. I also hear GT-R's have problems with transmission. Don't think it's good as everyday car either.
You can get both an R8 and GT-R used for around $60K in Moscow these days or an F360 for around $50. All of these were options for me, but I chose Porsche because it's... because it's Porsche. I love it for it's style and feel and look. I like it because it can be modded and because there's an abundance of DIY articles about it on the net.
When I was getting this car my wife was sort of sceptical and thought I was just getting another toy. She also was saying it's a pure millionaire car while we are regular people, but when I took her for a first 996tt ride, here words were: "For what it's worth, it's definitely more than just showing off".
As for the next car question: So far I don't think I'll be selling this baby, I just love it! I'll be installing a lot of electronic options (I'll be doing it myself), parking cameras, Android based stereo, security system etc.
I would buy another Porsche, a GT3 probably if I could afford it (maybe a couple of years later I will), problem is here in Russia you pay annual road tax. This 996tt cost about $2.5K per year, Audi is about $1.5K per year. So, every additional car will require a tax to be paid for.
A Gallardo seems like an interesting option too (I won't probably be able to afford a Murcielago), again, I don't want to sell my Porsche.
