First Kill: BMW M5
Not what I said at all. I was on a private road, owned by a friend which was built at extreme cost to him to support our high powered cars with no-one else allowed... I have been on a public road here with NO-ONE around at 130+
IS that crystal clear enough.
But if OP raced an M5 so be it.... most of the threads I see on this board are started by guys WHO I KNOW street race at very high speed.... just read every few days certain posts by the Texas crew. I am sure their 900+ whp cars in the videos are just doing 0-70 mph runs.... efing sure mate, but do I see you on those threads... and I am sure your GTR in the icon pic has never been over the speed limit.. but so you are sure
I hate it when I see ******bags zipping in and out of traffic at high speed, makes me cringe.
But in this day and age there are always a few morally superior people like the PCA dude from NC who have to assert their precious holier than though superiority, yet I do not see them on the Texas guy's threads crying foul.
each to their own... but I always drive as safely as posible around the f'wit drivers where I live....
BUT on a private road/estate/track/airfield I will do what I want
IS that crystal clear enough.

of course it is "unsafe" not to follow the basic speed law which posits that one should never drive faster than "it is safe".. and no one here condones street racing per se.
but i think that adopting a "holier than thou" attitude, while displaying the modifications made to ordinary street cars in their "signature" lines is disingenuous at best, and at worst, completely hypocritical.
no one needs a modified vehicle to drive 35 mph on the street, and i dare say no one that has a modded street vehicle hasn't taken advantage of that extra power at one time or another, regardless of the posted speed limit.
no one in their right mind would argue as to the wisdom of it? it's flat out dumb lol ..but that said, i would bet dollars to doughnuts that everyone here has exceeded the speed limit at one time or another. so condone it? nah, but acting like you've never done it!? sure lol. ok,.. right.

it's hypocrisy that kills me.
The forum is called 6SPEEDonline, not 6SAFETYonline or 6PLEASEWATCHOUTFORTHEMINIVANonline. The OP was having fun with his car and that's what it's all about, isn't it?
Going fast and being safe aren't mutually exclusive.

"Can't we all just get along"???,...let's all admit this,...there are "leaders" and "followers" in life and "on the streets". So just remember that we drive "Porsche 996 Turbo's",...my point is if you can't handle the car and some of the circumstances that comes with "sports cars and people",...the friend it's time to sell you're car and read magazines. I want to be able to continue to do research on this forum and also hear about fellow "sports car lovers" experiences. Enough on this because you guys are sounding like old ladies!

And, yes, to be sure, I do not street race. BUT - I would suggest that this perception of 'racing' varies from person to person.
^ bump.
I "killed" a Tesla Model S in a quarter mile stretch from a stoplight in Mexico that vaguely resembles a freeway onramp in SF.
I'm notably proud because the Tesla does have a decent posted 0-60 (4.6s) to my X50's posted 0-60 (3.9s), but my learning curve on my clutch controlled launches is very long, even after 2 years of ownership.

But with a new Beetle Turbo S sorting a whopping 180bhp, the Turbo badge, in and of itself, no longer inspires fear.
Combine the "Turbo" with "Porsche" and yeah, it's something special.
