If anyone has questions about the AEM for the 996/997 then Todd@protomotive.com offered to answer any questions emailed to him. He is obviously a Porsche expert and attended the same class I did at Titan. He should be able to give you the real world comparison between a Syvecs, which he currently installs, and the Pro EFI vs the AEM. I am sure they all have their ups and down but definitely good to have a resource when considering an ECU.

Yes. I checked the pinouts and it looks to be the same for both 996/997. Just wire the 997 to the same wire and you should be good to go. I was curious about the 997 turbos on a 996 and checked that the pinout for the 996 are not used so you could just wire the 997 turbos actuators to the free pinouts on the harness and just turn them to operate in the AEM.

ProEFI posted this video yesterday

Saw that and will be watching it ASAP, a very welcome video from ProEFI with promise of more to come. AEM is doing much the same and watching those can allow you to pickup tips too.

Protuning freaks (ptf) seems to be making some great progress with the AEM infinity on the 997. Can't wait for their updates but they seem to have the car dialed in pretty well.

My guess is yes, but to be sure I would ask Todd at Protomotive since he has offered to answer any questions about the AEM.

We've been doing quite a bit of tuning with the AEM Infinity over the last few months and have had some great results. Thanks @jazz997tt for sharing the link above. We have shared some dynos there as well. So far we're really happy with what the AEM offers feature wise. It installs very quickly and we can offer our remote tuning services with ease on the platform for those interested. Let me know if any questions at all and if I can help with any questions.

^^^What are your thoughts about the ProEFI vs AEM Infinity? Not planning on changing my setup from the Pro112 but just curious though.

ok so its just a matter of availability not necessarily a better upgrade

We haven't had a chance to play around with the proEFI yet.

And same question about 997 abs sensors on 996 aem.
You could have the car on the dyno or on the road. Remote tuning is what we do day in day out with most cars we're tuning. Road is what we prefer for remote tuning as it exposes the car to real world conditions, load and airflow. I'm not really sure on the abs sensors.

I spoke to Todd at Protomotive and he doesn't think that the 997 ABS sensors would work with the plug and play method on the 996. I am sure that anything can be made to work with any system with customization but I think the question was for an easy plug and play solution to utilizing the 997 sensors on the 996.

This might simply be a config change but it could also require a firmware mod. I'm not sure if the ABS sensors feed the ECU and the in turn the ABS computer or not. I've shot an email to a contact that would know, honestly this might also be possible with the ProEFI and Syveccs depending upon how it's all wired up. Hope to know soon!

Okay, heard back from my contact. Im told the ABS sensors feed the PSM module, the PSM module puts these signals on the CAN bus where the ECU pick them up. I know Pwdrhound has installed a switch for his PSM to prevent it from interfering on track, does anyone know if this interferes with ABS functionality? I'm wondering if the ABS is still working.

From the sounds of it the signals are getting interpreted BEFORE the EMS which would mean that this swap wouldn't work unless the sensor wheels have the same tooth count, apparently the sensors are electrically similar.

P.S. One more update, the EMS can read the sensors directly rather than off the CAN bus. This might require wiring and obviously the EMS would be out of the picture. I'm uncertain about ABS which I suspect is also using the sensors, you might not retain it.
