I'm wondering when do you guys floor your car what rpm? Everyone ask me that when I had 16g billets I said most of the time I'm about 4K rpm. Others at the car show told me they like to floor it around 3K rpm in 3rd gear or lower in 4th gear eeeekkk.

Nothing wrong with flooring it. The tune should be safe for all throttle inputs.

Can anyone tell if this a case of detonation, too much timing, or too much boost/timing/power?

I think there is an issue with flooring it to low in rpm. This guy blew his up in 5th or 6th gear at 170mph. Most people I see on here blow there motor in 4th or 5th gear at low rpm. Just weird.

I got rid of my 16g billets because they hit to hard down low. Lucky I would floor it around 4K rpm.

Silly. Has nothing to do with when you floor it. The tune should make all of that safe. When you see people blow crap at low rpm, it's because that's where the torque starts to peak. When I blew my vette motor it was at 4000rpm. Everyone thinks high rpm is a motor killer. It's the 3000-4500 range that will always do it.

What on that are you going to rebuild? Once they come apart like that and vent themselves, I wouldn't be comfortable using much from that power plant.

The crank may be good, but to break a rod I would suspect it would be out of specs, from the force of doing so. With the expense of the parts and labor to assemble this engine, not replacing damaged parts will be expensive. Rebuilding these engines is all or nothing IMO simply because of the cost involved and risk for failure of compromised parts.

Do you know for sure if it was low end torque or lean mix that caused this?

What are tuners doing to prevent to much low end torque when using modern turbos?
Is it as simple as limiting boost pressure below 4-5000rpm?

They use a combination of timing and boost.

Tough to say from the pics if it went lean or not - would need the logs to see. And if it did it could be a combination of a number things.

It's too bad. But I'm sure you can build it back better.

Anyone watch "roadkill" the hotrod mag youtube show?

They made a good point in that the best way to test a tune on a car (you're going to buy) is to put in in 4th at low rpm and floor it. If you don't hear any knock and don't have to pick up bottom end parts the tune was probably solid.

kind of looks like a failed HG/hydro-lock scenario...water does an amazing job cleaning the combustion chamber...
