Does anyone know how to hardwire it directly to the sun roofs power source.

There has to be a power wire in there somewhere...

Let me know what you find. I am about to pick up a V1 and will wire it myself as well.

I tested every wire in the Sunroof and light supply. The issue that came up for me was how long power stayed active after the key was turned off. The lights didn't work because they're on a relay timer. The Sunroof power supply seemed to be a constant on run in to a circuit board. I had to run a wire to the fuse block to pick up one that shut down when the key was pulled out of the ignition.

The sunroof wire that you`re looking for is the front left, in the 4 wire plug. Then ground other wire to torx screw on motor. The V1 switches off when you turn off the key.

i hardwired a v1 today. if you remove the panel that holds the interior lights/sunroof switch, and look strait up, you will see a connector, as said 2 posts above, its the front left wire within in a 4 wire plug.

i tapped in to this wire, works perfectly fine. if the v1 is on, and you shut the car off and take the keys out, the v1 will shut off as well.

Is it fairly easy taking off the panels. I have this fear that i might snap something and end up with a broken piece.

Consider mounting the V1 low on the windshield...the lower the better in terms of laser detection.

The "sunlight bounce" issue is a non-event...the driving environment is just way too dynamic. And I doubt there is a computer out there that can calculate the bounce angles encountered at any given moment. The front fenders and front trunk lid are curved creating VERY complex bounce patterns. The difference between the highest and lowest windshield mounting locations is about 9", so even if you could calculate a static moment in time "bounce" answer, one mounting location might be better than the other in that case, while five minutes later (the sun has moved) the other location may be better. There are three other considerations with regard to sunlight bounce that make it a non-issue...if the sun is behind you, if it's cloudy, or if the sun is down.

Mount the V1 where you want, but lower is better for laser detection.
