Tune help

Is there a way to tell what kind of tune is on a vehicle? I am purchasing a 996tt with a tune, however the owner is having a difficult time with the dealership that did the tune. Is there a way to to know?

It's tough to tell these days if there's no documentation or hardware to go by. But also all the latest tunes are pretty inexpensive and work better. Sometimes you can check with a few companies by Vin number but that can be tedious. Good luck

My advice is to not attach ANY value to that tune, in fact tell them it's a negative and you want $xxxx discount off the price.

Once you buy your car you can get a modern tune from a well known tuner.

I have the Cobb AccessPort and a custom tune by Sam. Works great and the support is the best I've experienced in 20 years of owning tuned cars.

Thats what I figured. What would you suggest on an x50 car with just an Europipe exhaust?

How do you like the AccessPort? I probably will get the car retuned, and the AP does seem to be pretty convenient.

Love it....I'm on my third one, prior to my 996 I owned two different '07 Subie STI, both pro-tuned with AccessPort.

Thanks Road.
j we can set you up with a stage 2 map with exhaust. Pricing is so competitive now at 895. I can have it to your door in one day and I'll take a look at some logs with you to make sure it's looking good and you can enjoy all the benefits of the AP

The Cobb AP is an awesome tool. I can tell you that SAM is like no other in the business. His honesty and customer care will exceed your expectations. I GUARANTEE that!

Thanks everyone for your help. I did find out that it had a FVD tune. Now I have contacted FVD with the vin to see some details. I still think I may go to the AP and for its logging functionality and to get a little more out of the car.
