I wonder how much faster the car is when in 2wd mode in a straight line, we need a 60-130 run on two stock or similar moded cars. I have heard you get 6% more power to the wheels in the 2wd mode.

Well, I heard that taking out the diff and drive shaft you loss about 300lbs and every 100lbs is worth about 10-12hp to the wheel....

The car is definitely faster in RWD mode. It is not any harder to drive though.

I will say the car has better grip in RWD with new PS2s than it it did in AWD mode with the old factory Pirellis. The pirellis were serioulsy spinning in 1st and 2nd in AWD mode.

Nah, I heard from a few board members that the front diff is very very heavy...heavy enough where you need two people to carry it. I think the diff and the drive shaft are probably around 250lbs +/-

I had speed gallery do it. Three bolts on one side and slide off the spline on the other.... voila!

BTW I've heard 150 LB too. The only diffrence between a GT2 and a TT is the rear seats, front drivetrain and PCCB (in terms of weight).

GT2 = 3175
TT= 3480

The difference is 305 pounds! maybe 200 lb for the drivetrain is not far fetched!

Yea but doesnt mean it will feel like a GT2. 996tt would have to be upgraded heavily suspension wise, then it might be a pretty close match! Hmm i want to do the RWD swap now..

It's more like 130-140 lbs. I weighed everything that was removed from my car on a calibrated scale.

Interesting Scott...what parts did you buy for the conversion? Just the C2 stub axels and GT2 cover plate? I'm hearing that the cover plate is optional.

The front diff components were removed from the pumpkin, as well as the front driveshaft and stock front axles, and a different coverplate was installed.

Sorry guys, but what exactly is the "stub axel" ? Also, I saw on the part list that the GT2 has LSD, what will happen if you run the TT transmission without LSD , will it be more stress to the transmission ?

Thanks
