Maybe one of the tuners could shed some light.
Tom, you may well be right (and I hope you are) -- you have far more experience than I. On ther other hand, I know of one or more 996TT engines that were unable to stay together prior to o-ringing, but have since run smoothly. Of course, these engines were running more boost than I am informed that you will be running. My suggestion was less a function of what is necessary for your set-up, as I am wholly unqualified to comment on that, but rather, an observation that it would be a nightmare if you were wrong.

Good luck with the build . . . you will surely have a beast.

Craig

markski,

I believe I remember pics showing that you o-ringed your liners. Did you o-ring your heads? I believe the cost of doing both is about 2k. The only person I know that o-ringed the heads/liners was VRAlexander. I know he ran 1.7 bar, maybe more and he didn't have any head failures that I know of. Then again we haven't talked since he left.

That is exactly what I was getting at. The o-ringing on the liners and heads is the best way to go period. Protomotive through VRAlexander's car was one of a couple that truely pushed the envelope and raised the bar. We were so impressed with the work that we stopped our motor assembly to have Todd @ Protomotive machine our heads and liners for the o-rings.

The next question ......... from what material is your rings made ? There are a few materials that will hold the pressure. Certain ones will transfer heat while others will help disipate heat. This can have an effect on how far your push the timing. Same hold true on liner material.

You'll have to ask Todd that question, but I was told that its the exact same setup that's on VRalex's car...so I imagine it should work pretty well.

Not yet, Dickie. But you'll be one of the first people I'll call when it is. We need to videotape a couple of runs in against your 997TT.
