Intersted in having your mod done...

TT Tommy, I am in LA and would love to hear/see your exhaust mod! Perhaps I can hook up with your guy to have it drilled too? Let me know!

I started with a 1/4" pilot hole, then 1/2", and then 1 1/8". I was unable to use the larger unibit I have, as it is to long and would hit the next wall beyond the hole. So for now, I have a 1 1/8" hole symetrically placed on both sides. There is a significant difference in sound. I also believe the engine spools up a little quicker. To me the sound is enchanced, but not overly loud. I most likely will continue to 2", but for now I am impressed with the change. No CEL and so far no indication other than success, but I only did a ten mile canyon run so far. Thanks to everyone who paved the way for my mod. If you are near Malibu, and want to hear it in person, shout me out with a PM. Heres a couple pic, the angle is misleading, the holes are centered on the pipe. Tomorrow I get my flash codes!!yes!!

If anyone is interested in a stock/OEM exhaust for this modification we have one 997TT muffler available with about 10k miles. P.M. for more information & pricing or email Joey@fabspeed.com.

I'd love to see someone do this to a 997 exhaust. The 997 sounds so much better than the 996, I bet with this mod, it'd sound even better!!! Someone do it! Is the 997TT a straight bolt on to a 996TT? One thing though, looking at the stock exhaust, sure looks heavy

Interesting idea. (also looking for "something" for my 02 996tt to better the sound. If you can send me a link, or even the video, that would be awesome.

The 997TT will not fit on a 996TT because the tips are in a different location.

Question Just to clarify...

OK, I've read the entire thread...and am about ready to do this Just to clarify, though--you only punch through ONE layer of steel, correct? Drill through the pipe and as soon as you lose resistance, you're done, right?

Just read through this entire thread- Great job by the team putting this together. I will be buying the bits this week and drilling ASAP. Went out on my first run through the mts this weekend and was disappointed with the sound. Will post results soon-

Hey guys...

Don't want to scare anyone off from doing this and I absolutely cannot prove anything BUT......I did this mod....then two months later changed my turbos out from stock 16's to the 24/18 deal and......one of my turbos had some blades chewed up.
Like I said, no way to prove anything as I couldn't find any debris.......I'm just sayin'.......

Yuck. I would highly doubt that doing this mod would suck any debris back into the system that far... I would be asking someone why the turbos were chewed up since it is most likely from something else...

My two cents...

Those turbos are in my basement collecting dust. Like I said, I have no idea where the debris came from, but the car was stock.....
