Thought I'd log on for the first time in a year or so and see what's up.
Damn, 4 years later and this mod is still being used. When I invented it I thought it would be laughed at! Glad it's helped you guys. No more TT for me. Lost it in a nasty divorce along with everything else.No more P cars now unfortunately. Those 996 TT's are by far the biggest bang for buck cars out there

I think that the general consensus is that EP Quiet is the way to go from a drone perspective.

I have AWE headers and exhaust and the "no drone" that they advertise is a joke! At WOT it is awesome, from 2-3K it is pretty bad..

2-3k... yeah, that's a broad range and unfortunate.

Quote: ...Guys are right about the acceleration having a little more thrust. I accelerated aggressively in 2nd gear and felt like I was about to peel/break the rear wheels; I never noticed such affect before. I didn't test acceleration extensively as I didn't want to chance a ticket. I will say my car had a prior ECU remapping but none since the TJW exhaust mod. Now I can concentrate my future upgrades on other performance mods.
Okay, it's been a couple of weeks since I did the mod and the car still sounds awesome; however, it feels as though my acceleration in 2nd and 3rd is not as responsive or zippy as it was prior to my mod. I know we inherently deal with Turbo delay but either I've just gotten use to the cars power or maybe the mod retarded the response overall. Do I need to get my ECU remapped since I drilled a couple of holes in the exhaust and messed with my car's breathing? I still get up to 1.0 bar when I'm accelerating.

Thanx.

I have the "Ruf style" by Ken and it has the same amount of drone as the stock system. Which, to my ears is none. Couldn't be happier with it. I'm not going for any more power than my tune got me, as this is my DD. And, it has the right amount of sound IMHO

Doing some work on my coolant system and went back to stock exhaust with this mod and was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds. Has a nice rumble, slight turbo spool sound, and no un burnt fumes spell. The top end lacks the crack of the Switzer, but still quite nice.

For the record I have tried several exhausts and happy once again with this setup: Stock to stock-mod to Miltek Sport to FVD straight pipes to Miltek to Switzer cat-less and now back to stock-mod.

Will be putting car back to semi-stock so Switzer will be going up for sale.

Why are you selling the Switzer... are you not happy with its performance or agitated with the sound?

Switzer sounded incredible- it is catless with a cross muffler and has beautiful tips- just check their website. Best exhaust time I had in the car, and have tried several!

Prepping the car for sale- looking for a proper racecar right now and didn't want to do that to the Porsche (rollbar, seats, belts, sways).

...I guessed so...

Well, I have this de-cat scrap exhaust and I was slightly bored today, so I got my angle grinder and ooops...: ( and rest of the pics in the next post )

No wonder there is such a performance increase when going aftermarket. What a convoluted gas path!

Thanks for sharing- rep to you

Very cool stuff.

+1 on the Swtizer...what I went to...after the TJW mod of course. Dollar for dollar, this mod still rules. After than, if you opened up the stock unit like Ruf and PBK, voila...perhaps the next best thing.

No wonder that it sounds like a "Hoover"
