Procedure to eliminate the malfunction light from the spoiler.
Nah, the OEM is mega pricey, I have a MaShaw I believe. I was told 82lbs weight savings, those RAMs are heavy! The GT2 wing, box with packing etc was 23lbs. I havent weighed the stock yet, but its coming off in the next week, I will weigh so we have exact numbers.
They are heavy but I doubt that the stock unit itself weighs 100 lbs, 100 lbs is a grip!!!!!
Trust me, I'd love if it were the case though, that would put a serious dent in my weight issues.
When you weigh PLEASE PLEASE let us know, you can post here or in the Turbo weight loss thread (sticky) or hell send me an email whitee@bellsouth.net.
I'd love to know regardless, but some other folks have said the weight difference was little to nothing. I'd love for you to prove them wrong.

Reviving this thread. I have a CF GT2 add on wing already and wanted it to stay in the 'down' position with no malfunction light. I also wanted to remove as much weight as possible to help compensate for the RWD conversion (front end weight loss mostly). I had my guy remove the hydraulic pump/motor and cap the end of the lines. The spoiler now stays 'down' as there is a spring in the system that forces it down. The hydraulics were only used to raise it evidently, not both ways.
Anyways, we followed the directions, pulled the one wire, capped it and then bridged and soldered the other two. Unfortunately I still get the warning quite frequently.
Any ideas, updates, etc...? Is the fact that I removed the hydraulics the issue? Do I need to buy the harness? Any updates from FVD on the pin 2 and pin 5 connection?
Thanks in advance?

Kato, While I completely understand your thought process, RWD = 71 lbs and the mod you did, maybe 3-5 lbs. You may want to try some straight pipes, remove the rear seats, and if you dare remove the rear bumper support. That would equal out the imbalance.
But regarding your question, has anyone attempted to attach a GT2 wiring harness to the Turbo decklid? May be hard to do, but it should eliminate the light.

I hear ya. I know that I am only scraping the surface when it comes to weight reduction, etc... This was just a 'why not' to remove the motors, etc... My main concern is to get the annoying spoiler light off now!
I don't want to get into a RWD/AWD discussion but I can say that I had the car corner balanced Thursday before I hit Streets of Willow on Friday and the car was a whole different animal. I had gone to an autocross after just removing the axles and driveshaft and the car pushed like a lineman-no fun. With increased front camber (-1.3), new PS2's and the corner balance, the car barely pushed the front end and I was able to run the fastest lap of anybody out that day so something must have been right. Note that this was my first real trackday with ANY vehicle. I have autocrossed and raced motorcycles so I'm not a track newbie by any means but this was the first time that I pushed this car a bit. New front brakes are now on the top of my list as well...

The GT2 harness may be the only solution but I'm trying to not spend money if I don't have to. There are many other places that I'd rather put it into on this ride!
I think he may be thinking of the 997 spoiler deactivation harness we carry on our site (which is $49.95).
We can get the one for the 996 Turbo, but it runs $209.95.

All I can say is WOW...$209.95!
I may be calling you if I can't get this annoying light to go off soon!
Sure, the Rear Lid Wiring Harness for the 996T Aerokit is: 996-612-070-30.
These Directions are mostly correct. STEP 4 is INCORRECT>
You should connect(bridge) the GRAY/BROWN wire with the GRAY/GREEN wire and NOT the yellow/green wire. Then it works.
Here's a link to disabling the malfunction light on a Boxster. It's the same wires and color.

I will give it a shot, thanks! That stupid warning comes on EVERY time I fire up my car... I haven't had time to deal with it and it's not my daily driver but I'll try this out and report back so the next time somebody tries this, we'll have the right method ironed out!
