Procedure to eliminate the malfunction light from the spoiler.
Buy a harness, trust me! I went through all the BS, rewired a few times, etc..., etc... Not worth the hassle for a few hundo. MA Shaw, Misha, etc... all make harnesses as well that might be cheaper than the factory one. Call em and ask nicely. I know MA Shaw has them because I was holding them last week when I was picking up a new front CF lip for my GT2 front end.
Kato,
Did you pull the wire to the pump itself, as mentioned recently in this thread? If so, what problems did you have ultimately with doing that? Based on recent feedback here, the "pull wire mod" seems like the best DIY of them all for dealing with this issue, so I'm sure interested if you have done this exact mod and had issues with it. Thanks.

This is my experience.
The connector that goes into the piston has a spring loaded contact on the end of it. If that contact is depressed or otherwise making contact when it is out of the piston, the spoiler malfunction light will display at 75 MPH. If the spring contact is left loose (spring extended) and the contacts are not otherwise touching, the light will not ever come on. In my case, simply pulling the plug and letting it remain free from pressure has resulted in no warnings. I have avidly driven the car like this for about 3 months with plenty of use that would trigger the light, if it were going to happen. In my case, there is clearly no need to purchase an additional harness. That said, maybe some cars are different.

I have attached the pics for reference. Just pull the blue wire behind the cylinder shove it behind the black wire and that's it...
Dont spend the money on harness ...it works great for me and has done for about a week now.

Yes, thats it. vb's second picture shows the contact in question. I pulled both of mine out of the recepticle and let them hang free like that, but tucked them up under the plastic liner - out of sight. I put them in a plastic baggie with an elastic to keep them weatherproof, too.

I don't remember exactly which wires I pulled. I did pull that blue wire but may have pulled the other at the same time (on the other end of the cylinder). I then followed the instructions for rewiring the harness (from this thread) and it didn't work. I then had my stereo guy double check and confirm my work...same issues. Then I rewired it again per some other instructions...didn't work (all the time). Then I had my shop tech give it a go...didn't work all the time...
For me, it would stay down 99% of the time and I'd mostly not get a warning. I drove like that for months until it started doing it again...it was very strange and didn't seem to follow any logical pattern! I finally got fed up with it and just bought the harness and called it a day!
I have a 2001 car. Not sure if that makes any difference. I doubt it but you never know. My hydraulics were also slowly going bad during this process which was one of the reasons I decided to just fix the wing in the down position (I have a GT2 Add On in CF).
I hope you guys have discovered a "cure" and so please proceed if it works for you. No need to burn money unnecessarily but I thought I'd share my experience and maybe save you some headache...

I took more pictures to share with the community when I did the work today. I used blue electrical tape and a zip-tie to secure the blue wire. I will test drive the car tomorrow morning, and will provide my findings here.
Well, I have a funny update to share. I performed the mod shown (and nothing else) and the wing still functions exactly as it always did. It goes up at 75 mph and back down at 37 mph, no change in behavior whatsoever. So now I'm a bit more perplexed as to what I actually unplugged...the engine cooling fan perhaps? No error codes are thrown, but it seems like I accomplished absolutely nothing so far. Any advice?
Steve,
If those are your pictures above, then you disconnected the proper wire. I don't know about just disconnecting 1 connection, as I disconnected both the upper and lower connections. I would pull the other connector (the one that looks the same as the one you already disconnected) and try again. This is what I did and I do not have any lights with a fixed wing, but I do not have the rear spoiler installed, either - so I can't comment on that. Since these are the only two wires that attach to the wing hydraulics, I can not imagine it would function with both wires disconnected.

Although i noticed that my right side cylinder is leaking some oil...my spoiler does not look like its fully raised. Need to check this,
I will pull the other connection and try again. Again, I'm surprised that it's working normally with the first "blue" wire pulled at all. Your electrical fan still works with this wire pulled, correct?
I havent checked the fan yet. I will check the next time i park the car. It would helpful if someone can post the electrical wiring diagram. That way we will know the purpose of each wire.
