Another one bites the dust

Dead engine after 7,000 miles :/
Dealer: "appears that the engine has jumped timing and the valves on bank two are bent.
Total cost of repairs will run $12,054.21 tax sales tax.
It would be much more cost effective to replace the engine as apposed to trying to repair it."

Is this normal for the 99' 00' models? I keep hearing horror stories about them.

Oh bummer man... There have been issues with the 99s thru 06s! We've seen intermediate shaft failures etc...

It would be cheaper to look at maybe LA Dismantlers or something and get one with some miles on it that's been taken out?

Porsche of Huntsville quoted me $11,950 for a brand new engine installed. I'd rather go new, and start modding it.

It's under a third party warranty, just got the car 3 months ago and I've already had a coolant reservoir replaced. How likely are they to screw me over?

Only one way to find out.... file claim and make sure you follow their rules to the letter!

So you have a 7 year old car with 7000 miles on it? or it already has had a replacement engine and it only had 7000 on the 2nd engine?

I've heard it depends on the warranty company. Some are easier than others. At the end, you have to fight for what is right. They underwrote your policy betting that it would not happen. Now it did and they should pony up and get you a new engine.

I had some issue with my second party warranty company, not yours, but do make sure you have them involved from the get go. Call them tell them what the dealer has said don't do any repairs until they authorize the work!

I got burned I went ahead with the work prior to there authorization and so they refused to pay! So....be very careful and follow there rules to the letter!

It had 42,000 miles. It had 7000 since i bought it.

Warranty company wants to tear the engine down to see the damage, costs $4,000 billable to me if they don't end up covering it.

Can't they use a scope or something to show the valves for less than 4k? Or they want a full tear down?

They want a full tear down... the car is in good hands at Porsche of Huntsville, those fellas seem like very honest guys.

I'll keep you guys updated, should find out next week what they're going to do, whether they're going to fix it (complete waste imo) or get a new engine.

I'm itching to use my left food again. Right now I'm rocking in a Sentra, takes all my willpower to get into that car.
