Ashtray Problem

Has anyone had a failure to close problem with the ashtray?
I have a '03 996 C2 with black and silver carbon fibre interior.
The tray door will not stay closed.
Short of replacement, any suggestions for repair?

I have the same issue.
The problem comes from the little spring (metallic hinge).
Try to replace it

Just get rid of the ashtray and buy the non-smoker open compartment intsead. It only comes in matte black, but BumperPlugs can paint it silver for you to match other trim in your car if you prefer.

I like the ashtray, it holds my coins. If there wasn't a lid, the change would be all over my car!

Did you know that there are several small slots (kind of like wider versions of teeth of a comb) to hold your coins at the front edge of the inside of your console? You just slip the coins into the slot and they stay put.

The non-smoker tray is an ideal spot for your cellular phone.

non-smoker is the way to go.
When I order my painted console, I couldn't afford to get the ashtray painted and have fail me in the future.
