Garage Homelink

Hi guys,

I have seen the parts to program the homelink using OEM switch. Does anyone know about it? It used to be on ebay, but not any more.

I have been in the newer 997's and they have a button on the overhead for homelink. It looks like you could fit the button into an older (996) and hardwire your opener to it.

You can see Kirby's mod in rennlist too

Here is the 997 switch. It seems to be similar to the rest of switches which fit in 996...

Yes, that is the switch set I want. I think I could replace the two fillers in my overhead and use those to do so. All I would have to do is hardwire my garage door opener in and I am in business. And it all looks stock..
Just a long term project that has been on my mind.

Kirby's mod looks good too. Thanks for the link.

The two "fillers" are not fillers but rather interior motion detectors for the alarm. I'm not sure how you're going to remove them and whether the alarm will work without them.

In terms of installing a Homelink device, theyr'e generally easy to find used on Ebay but they're very large (about the size of a deck of playing cards) and will not fit up in the overhead console (there's very little room up there). I was able to fit a Chamberlain/Liftmaster mini garage door remote that can control two doors. I hard-wired it to two small round Radio Shack black momentary switches that I mounted in the overhead console and it looks very factory. It is not a true Homelink setup, but it works for my two garage doors.
