Tall Drivers Please Chime in

I found a 2003 Targa that I am very interested in. The price is right, but I am finding myself a bit 'pinched'. Has anyone been able to move the driver's seat back about 2-3 inches? I am 6'4 with a 36" inseam.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Buy a nice set of used GT3 type seats they are usually much lower and that may help also.

I am 6'6". Driving with standard seat. Took a while to get used to but it works fine, even in long trips. You can get the seat back a few inches yes. But then, it is my feeling that the steering wheel will be a bit to far. It is starting to be far for me when the seat to the back as it is.

I'm also 6'4". I don't have any trouble with the seat in the standard position (all the way back, of course).

Ditto. When I push it a little such as in mountain roads, I always bring the seat forward a bit. Otherwise the wheel is not quite close enough for total control.

If you think it is close, sit on a Nascar car.. the wheel is onto you and your shoulders are strapped. Did try on Petty's cars. Crazy.

6'4' and have no real issues, just tilt the seat back a bit.
If you compare it to the Mercedes SL 550 or even the SLS (etc.) the 996/997 is actually roomy.
The only sports car that's more spacious I would say is a Ferrari 360/430/458.
Just remember you're getting a sports car so it's going to feel very different from your daily driver.

Good luck!

Sid.

6'4" and put LOTS of miles long distance 500+ days, what the others said (tilt-back), never got a sore butt and or cramps and have had those issues with other top line cars.

You are going to love it

I'm 6'6" and I make myself fit. I have the power seats and with the setting all the way down and all the way back, I have plenty of head and leg room. I wish the steering wheel had more travel though.

Also 6'4" with a 36" inseam here ...
I have a 99 C2 that I fit quite comfortably in. I don't even need to keep the seat all the way back, and as my daughter says, the car is the perfect size for me. Just took it on a 500 mile round trip a couple weekends ago and was very comfortable. I will be forever grateful to the Porsche designers who gave the 996 the leg room it has!
