Cracking noise under dash..UGGH!

Lately there has been the most annoying cracking noise under the passenger side of my dash. It is constant esp. at night time. I have a 99 c2..Anyone else ever heard it or have the same problem. Pushing down and tapping the dash doesn't seem to get rid of it..Anyone?

I have same issue I think

Sadly though, I cannot solve my cracking sound either. '02 C4S in my case. Cracking / clacking sound is from passenger side dash area on mine too, drives me nuts. No one so far can solve it (dealer is usually useless for rattle fixes, in my experience).

In my case it is not constant, takes medium / large bumps to make it happen - but it still happens a LOT of the time.

I head a story once about a particular known rattle / cracking noise that is due to a dash mounting strut on the passenger side - but dealers are highly reluctant to fix it because it requires complete removal of the entire dash assembly in order to access this support strut and install a 5 cent rubber grommet or something like that. No clue though whether this is my / your problem for sure. And besides, dealer removing / reinstalling the entire dash is no doubt fraught with risk of causing more problems than you had before you went in.

I'd love to hear someone chime in with an idea on this one. It's a particularly annoying type of cracking sound, shouldn't happen on a car costing this much.

Does it dissipate at all when you push on the passenger side airbag cover? How about when you press up against the glove compartment?

Will dissipate slightly when pressure is applied but not much.

I also have a cracking noise coming from the dash of my 00 c4 but it's slightly different. It only happens when I first start the car and it's really cold, and mainly when I cut the wheel hard to back out of a spot. It has only happened a handful of times and usually doens't last that long, maybe 30 seconds.

Occasionally I get a slight popping, crackling noise from the right passenger side of the my 996 but only when the heating/ac system is on. I figure it's related to lines involved in the heating/ac function...I guess!
