Added a little bling this weekend

Thought I would add some color to the gauges this weekend. Thanks to WearyMicrobe for the inspiration and Alex for great instructions.

It was an easy process. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the back-lighting of the gauge face at night. Some of the numbers are too bright.

Looks really nice. Yeah, where'd you get the gauge face from? Any idea why the gauge face wouldn't light up the same as the stock unit?

That's a great idea for the tach, never thought of that. Don't the needles require calibration if removed, or am I wrong?

The gauge face came from FVD. I'm not sure why it doesn't light up like the original. Probably the material on the back doesn't diffuse the LED light from the cluster the same.

Very nice, I like it. Where did you get the silver rings from and how are they mounted?

Did you have to buy a whole set or did they sell you just the tach?

The rings were purchased from Eric at Bumper Plugs. I used silicone to attach them.
I was able to buy the Tach face only without buying the whole set.

I have heard that about aftermarket gauge faces. I spoke to Gert when I had my 996 and he said that the best faces are made by Techart and are a closer match to the factory gauges at night.
