gtovan, you've got some craaaazy cars in your sig!!!!!! congrats.

I was actually surprised at how much improvement there was at the top of the rpm range with just the tune and my AWE exhaust. I wasn't expecting so much more pull at 5k rpm till redline. Seriously. I see that I'm beginning to sound very fanboyish, and I'm not a fanboy trust me. But when something delivers the goods (be it auto, audio, video whatever) I'll be the first to give props where they are due. And they are due to this tune I have. I look for excuses to just get in the car and go.

That's quite surprising (that it dies off at 5k rpm). Perhaps something is wrong. I agree with ttdude, I'd consider the guys who are 10 mins from you and see what they can come up with. If I'm not mistaken, the softronic tune is just for ecu and exhaust. Perhaps it's not taking advantage of what you've got.

It was redone after turbos by softronic, going to put on dyno before i make my decision see where i'm at should be around 680 mark I would guess. Just doesn't feel linear at all.

interesting. recently upgraded turbos and contacted my tuning company to ask if they had another flash for turbos. they said they did, so I paid for it and it was loaded. did a dyno of the 1st ECU tune and the "new upgraded" tune and there was no change! In fact, in some areas the first tune was better.

contacted the tuner and they asked for the dyno and have sent it to them. waiting for a response. this one does not seem like money well spent.

can I ask how much they charged you for the upgraded tune? I presume this is fvd you're talking about. Which turbo "brand" did you get (eg. champion, fvd, etc..)? I would have expected 50-75hp just from the turbo upgrade (with upgraded tune to take advantage of the turbos)

Hey Boggy it appears there is a message in those last two posts.....you made the right move with Proto .

Its nice to know you are at least going to wind up with the right result especially after spending the big $$$ on turbos and I/c's.

Hmmm...maybe they sent you the wrong tune file by mistake. Something is definitely not right. How does it feel on the street? Are you achieving max boost? With upgraded vtgs and ECU to match, you should feel a significant difference over stock turbos. More linear and pulls strong throughout the gears whereas stock turbos fade with higher gears.

fer sure. I must admit I am a bit surprised at how well it pulls even in 5th gear. I know that you said that you got used to the power a bit and could see going to the next level. I'm not there yet, I'm still in awe at this level.

was charged $900 for the FVD upgraded tune to accomodate TPC Racing's modified VTG turbos. FVD knew which turbos were being installed and they emailed the file directly to TPC. Upon learning there was no difference in the "upgraded" tune, I contacted FVD and was told that since these weren't their turbos they couldn't be sure what the results would be. HUH?! They knew which turbos I was going with. would have been nice if they told me before I spent $900 that it might not work.

Hold on. FVD charged you for doing nothing to your base tune? I've only corresponded with Rhonda and FVD, but they seem to have some of the best customer service around. Surprised to say the least. Hope you get this rectified.

pretty much. Not saying they knew there was going to be no change, but thems are the facts. to be more accurate, the base tune was actually a bit better than the "upgraded" flash. I've sent the dyno sheet to them as they asked and still waiting for a reply.

Hello,

You may want to relay the info to me as I can and could have logged the file. You have modded VTG's and an exhaust I believe and a Tip? The exhaust systems are also not all created equal and some can restrict the car at different levels in the 997TT. I do have an updated file that you may like better however I do not know if I'm not told.

While all Softronic tunes are safe I would not say that more power could be extracted from them.

Best,
Scott

In a another thread (now closed), I said I would measure my boost level since I don't have the sport chrono option and my dashboard gauge pegs at 1.0 bar. I finally got around to doing it. My boost peaks ~1.6 bar and holds pretty consistently around ~1.4.

TTdude. I converted your numbers to actual AFR (Lambda X 14.7) and BAR/Boost (Pressure - ambient pressure)/100

What did Todd K say? Looks pretty good to me.

Also...it looks like at higher RPMs, the AFR readings go crazy (as previously reported by other Durametric users) due to sampling frequency.
