Pulled the trigger!
thanks, I'm loving it. looking at your car pic reminds me that I've got to find a tint guy soon.
This car replaced a 2000 BMW M Roadster that was lightly modded. I was surprised at how comfortable the car was on the road, even better than the Roadster. Not punishing at all and some of the roads here aren't that great. I haven't tried the sport mode yet.
Like I said before, the power delivery in this car is really something. From low rpms it pulls nicely like my torquey M Roadster did but then at a certain point around 3000rpms it seems like someone just pushed you really hard from behind. And it does this in EVERY gear!
In previous threads I had agonized about whether to hold out for adaptive sport seats. Well I have to say that these seats (sports seats I believe) are REALLY comfortable. If I'm not mistaken, the adaptives have much more aggressive bolstering on the thigh sides but I don't miss it at all. The seats in my Infiniti G37xs are aggressively side bolstered and truth be told it just makes it harder to get in and out of the car and when I'm relaxing my left leg it always bumps into the side bolster. It might be better for the track but that isn't a big consideration for me. Those of you looking at a 997tt should definitely not rule out the sport seats and for sure sit in a car with the seats you are considering so that you'll have long-term happiness with what you get.
I'm glad I read the thread about the differences b/w 2007 and 2008 tts. Yes, there is no OFF button for the A/C. This is definitely one of those cars where you need to read the manual to figure anything out with the radio, nav, etc... I had just assumed I had a bluetooth telephone module b/c of the phone symbol on the pcm unit and in my steering wheel but maybe I don't...I'll look into that later.
The illuminated turbo letters in the door sill are pretty cool. The standard shifter is not bad at all. Going from 2nd to 3rd is a little bit of a reach for me but my brothers attribute that to my "stubby arm syndrome".
For those of you on the fence about getting one of these cars, I can't imagine why you would regret it. I always liked the immediate power and thrust of the big block American muscle cars. They also sound great (mostly). However, many of them are "one trick ponies". My buddy's C6 Z06 is really fun when you're accelerating rapidly but other than that it's just not that comfortable or enjoyable. I haven't gone over 140km/h yet in this car but it's a pleasure to be in and has the kind of power that never fails to put a smile on your face. I probably will mod this car (beyond the exhaust which I already bought) in the distant future but that will really be icing on the cake.

If there are any canucks here thinking of importing a 997tt you may want to take a look at my post in the Canadian section of this website about my experiences with Canadian Tire and the DMV. It all ended well but there were some aggravations that I hope others can avoid...

Thanks guys.
Didn't sleep too badly after all, although my teething 14 month old daughter was restless every couple of hours. Beautiful sunny day which was perfect for getting the car. I'll post some pics later, I've already kept patients waiting because I was drooling over the car so much this morning.
I wasn't sure what the child restraint part was that I need but I'll just see what Canuck Tire has to say when I take it in.

I think there is a run of docs buying used 997 Turbos
I drove mine to the hospital the other day, and got my first chin spoiler crunch as well. The damn ramp coming out of the lot is too steep. The hunt for a gentler parking spot has already begun.-Getz
I had assumed there was only one black for the 997tt - basalt black metallic. My car doesn't look metallic, so I assume it's flat black. I have the original window sticker and it just says "black". Not a big deal, I really like the black but just wondering if anyone knows if there are 2 different blacks for the 997tt?

thanks. Pretty well every black one I'd ever considered buying was Basalt, ironically I ended up with "regular".

I've heard Basalt can be brown in certain lighting. Ick. Nothing better than a black car that is ALWAYS black.
. Now the Gt silver...well thats a breeze.
Yeah when I look at the black on mine I can't imagine wanting any other black but your point is taken regarding maintenance. I went over to a buddy's place yesterday who had spent hours detailing his black C2S with 3 different products. I didn't point out to him that the dust had waited till he was done and then came right back on the car. Kinda like the birds wait till you're finished cleaning the car before taking a crap on it.
Don't feel too bad. I used to be into the black variations until I bought my Mini. "Astro Black". Looked black in the pics. Got it and sure enough it was more blue than anything. So pissed
