Scraped front bottom
Scraped front bottom
So while exiting various parking lots etc. I scraped the bottom of the front section of my car, UNDERNEATH the bumper but it's still a separate, painted piece. God knows why they paint this piece and it's not black plastic. It looks easily replaceable, but unnecessary to do. It's fairly well scraped and gouged, but of course, completely invisible unless or until you look for it or put the car on a lift.
So, what to do? Touch it up? Leave it? Suggestions?
Thanks
Nick

Yes, I understand that. My point is that it is a black plastic piece unless you paint it. If you don't care about the color, you can get an OEM replacement for $150, but it will be black (you can of course paint it ruby red after you get it).

Front Lip: disposable.
I have a spare, painted with my lowers upon delivery, waiting in my warehouse. It's probably an annual service add-on for these cars. And I'd like to lower the beast, but no way I'd do that without a lift kit too.

So you're saying you NICK'd it
I went and bought a metal finger nail file and every so often I lightly file the bottom of mine where it frays so it's less noticeable and more clean looking. Sounds like yours isn't even visable so forget about it. Eventually if it gets to be an eye sore it's an easy fix as noted above.

There are some after market front spoiler lips that you could install that have a steel lining on the bottom that will resist scrapes up to a point without showing any real visible damage.
Unnecessary on the standard OEM plastic, but a must if you want to go with some of the more expensive ones like the Werks1 CF front spoiler lip which, other than looking good, give you some added front downforce.

I received an unpainted spare when I bought my car new. After a couple of years of minor nicks and scrapes, while my car was in for some new coilovers, I had the original cleaned up and repainted and the black spare painted through my local shop down in New Orleans (NOLASport.net). He farms out his paint work to a local craftsman who does beautiful work. Both my front spoilers are now an exact match and as new. Next time I need to refurbish one, I'll do a swap and get the used one repainted, etc.
You'll find too that many parking lots can be negotiated without scrapping if you approach at a severe angle. I also find that if I engage "sport" mode the shock compression/rebound is tightened and helps a little.
