Champion vs TPC challenge
I am inclined to agree with mike... this started out as a grudge race and is turning into a publicity stunt. Who cares about the media, spectators, etc AT THIS POINT. If Champion had accepted the location the first time (the ethical thing to do), forum members would be sitting even more on the edge of their seats and realizing that "wow this is actually going down!" Given my experiences on chitownracing & grabalane, I can't tell you how many times I've seen one person call out another person and then have the guy that did the call out start b****ing about details (shows lack of confidence). Nobody likes that, it even hurts publicity
If this is going to happen, the only thing Champion and TPC should be focusing on is getting their cars ready with off the shelf parts. Location and date should be whenever TPC wants to do it PERIOD. Gas, driver, weight taken out of the car independent of off-the-shelf modifications, tires, brake pads, etc, shouldn't take very long to decide upon.
Perhaps I can make some simple recommendations:
Gas - MS109
Driver - whomever each party thinks is best suited for the competition.
Weight - Each company's parts probably don't weigh the exact same (thats a given), but other parts that are independent of those mods (converting to RWD for example, taking out the spare tire), should not be allowed.
tires - Advan R6's
brake pads - pick one and stick with it
I wouldn't regulate much more than that because it puts a cap on each vendors preference in setting up the car and masks their true abilities. I'm a Ron Paul guy btw.
I understand that both vendors want the best media coverage as possible because this is going to cost them money and that they want to show the world that they put their money where their mouth is. BUT, the bottom line is that each vendor's passion for kicking the other's vendor's butt will be contagious and what you end up with is word of mouth marketing. Stop trying to force the media coverage, because it will come anyways once everyone on the internet demands of the video footage from the race(s). Then once you have guys all over the internet talking about this vendor showdown, you can go to speedTV and say, "hey look at all of the people that want to see this showdown, and look at how we have it setup." SpeedTV would most likely say "sounds like a small risk endeavor to me!" blah blah blah....
Anyways, I could babble on for much longer. This is just my .02c

LSX this , nicely said ...
like he said , champion is making this more into a publicity stunt . How long does one need to go over details ?
its like a bully calling me out into a street fight , and then the bully saying well , i dont want to fight you there ,..... i will fight you only here... and oh ya , .... oh and its gonna be at a place where people can watch us.....
imo its not how it works , you call some one out , you do what jamie carter does , (ohiogt2) load the car in the back , and go balk your **** up at their location...
iron out exactly the events , and rules on the modding. bring your driver , and run what you brung.

correct , Christian how are ya ? how are you liking your 997 tt ?
As long as the car has VTG turbos run what you brung.. The only stipulation i read was who has the fastest VTG Porsche was the callout..
Hey bud, im good and you. so far i really enjoy my 997tt, i did a simple tune that made a huge differnce and love it
I personally would like to see a race between the two companies cars but if this does not happen, which is my guess, I would like to see some performance results such as 10-200 or 60-130. 1/4mile dyno etc. I can then decide myself which turbos might better suit my needs.

I think the liability issue needs to be considered especially when using 'customer's cars' in a fender to fender road race, probably the best way would be a simple dyno or 1/4 mile event. If it's basically a pissing contest (hp vs hp) I'm not sure what a road race adds, especially if one is a pro driver.
Chris, I do not think it's meant to be a fender to fender race as the talk was to get a pro driver to drive both cars (meaning 1 driver total). More of a time attack to see who can build the best all around car and set it up. A race would be pure stupid and pretty much no one would allow it without fully prepared cars.
A hot lap challenge (like lightning lap) with a pro driver is hardly that risky and happens on a weekly basis on tracks around the country. Just give the driver 5 laps in each car and see which one turns a faster lap. Like a magazine comparo.
I am starting to agree that Champion is being a little dramatic. In the spirit of competition I think TPC could be a little more willing to bend on the location. But the comments about VIR by Champion are retarded. It's one of the most recognized tracks in the country and one of the best on the East Coast. You'd think it was Roebling Road or something the way they talked about it. You don't expect something from a company with such racing "accolades".

Great to hear brother, enjoy it in the best of health.
