Urgent: Dead Battery and can't open the lid
I re-opened an older "Dead Battery post" in 996 TT thread but nothing seems to be working.
I ried with the donor battery/cables but the lid latch in the car won't open the lid and my key is stuck in the ignition
I can't seemto find my second key.
What else ca I do? What's the location of the cable in the passenger side foot well that can open the lid.
Thanks

A Ctek with cigar plug adapter would solve that problem
Sometimes the battery is dead and can't be charge through the cigar plug but it's enough to give some power so you can open the lid.

Try using the donor battery process but instead of using the latch on the car to try and open the lid, use the lid button on the key. Not sure if it will work since key is stuck is the ignition. Note #6 in the attached instruction. This is from the 997 so may be different.
Been there ...
First use the donor battery method (make sure you're doing it correctly) to remove the key, then use the trunk button on the key to open the boot ..
Make sure you have good contact with the red fuse, you should hear a click sound when you connect the black lead to the door latch ....
Good luck .. Tell us how it goes

I will try to get a newer cables that would clamp head on (the front part) rather than just one side...
Will report back as soon as I get hold of newer cables.
I think that seems to be the problem as the clamps on the cables have a bit of over hang and I was using just one side of the clamp on to the fuse

Update
Well a mechanic friend came over and played with the cables and the fuse and got it opened up.
However he wanted to jump start the car and on the second attempt the PSM failure came up on the dash so I didn't let him try again.
The car is on battery charger now until it's all charged up.
What about the PSM failure? Is that just the code that needs to be cleared?
Thanks to all who took time and helped.

...Note.... Read the archives and figured out the PSM code is a normal thingy and will clear out with few miles of driving.

Not miles ... Meters ..
Glad things worked out ...
P.s. some batteries are a lost case, and with the battery configuration in these cars I didn't risk another lock-out and got myself a new unit ...
Cheers

My car arrived with a dead battery (used). The new battery only lasted 2 years (Optima red top).
