TPMS sensor question, please help!

I am taking a set of Kinessis F110's to get some Super Sports mounted tomorrow and will put on my new to me 11 TTS coupe.

Trying to decide if the only route I really have is to go with the Porsche tpms sensors and stems at about $185 each times 4???

Or the guy at the wheel shop says he can build me a sensor for $65 that he uses on Mercedes Benz, BMW etc….that he thinks the car's computer will read just fine.

He admits that he has not done this with Porsche but with the other brands he has had success.

What does everyone think?

The words "he thinks" and "has not done this with Porsche" - why are you even asking the question?

You can get a set of OEM from Suncoast Porsche for about $500 shipped.

What size wheels? If you are going with 20's, there is a good chance that with the thin side walls that the sensors will break off of their stems. If you are keeping the stock 19's any of the suggestions above works. I would not have him experiment with the sensors as once you put them on, it will probably cost $200 or so to take the tires off to fix any issues!

On a related note, any way to change the PSI reading by which the sensor activates the "Flat Tyre!" dash light? Right now it comes on when the fronts reach about 35psi and the rears get down to 38psi. Kinda annoying.

This is set by Porsche. See the owners manual below.

Also, to be sure, have you set the proper season and load for your tires?
