I bought a new car
As several know in this forum I had been contemplating the 997S to compliment my 997tt and enjoy a two porsche home where my girlfriend and I could enjoy the Porsche experience . The biggest concern was space .
How could we make the transition from her driving a four door Mercedes sedan and explain to passengers that they would now ride in my third car (used for supermarket and shopping mall type of parking) a Civic Si ? I asked myself this question over and over.
It was a tough decision .
We finally decided that the best compromise at this time was the M3 since it offers great performance and space .
Yesterday I came home exhausted as I spent most of trhe day at a dealership two hours away (in traffic) but ended up very pleased with their business as well as the beautiful car that they sold me .
I drove up to my house as the sun was not ideal but my girlfriend was waiting with the camera and we photograthed the first moments of us both enjoying that we now own this car .
I want to thank all that offered suggestions . In the end the deciding factor came down to space . I'm not totally out of the loop for the facelift though . That Civic Si still has more use and at some point when I replace it it may well be a Porsche .

Good compromise, looks great in black- you can really see the lines, particularly the nice side skirts.
Although I don't believe it's faster than a C2S in any line. BMW conservatively says 4.7 (0-60), and Porsche says conservatively 4.5 seconds, 0-60.

I do already have one Porsche . It's a 997tt (photos were in the link and my avtar) and it
is modded with Werks1 intake, Evoms heders, Evoms Intercoolers , Plenum , Tubi exaust a host of Techart parts and suspension . It currently is getting the EVOMS 700 parts at this time is in the shop awaiting my Turbo's to return . We intend to pamper the 700Hp beast . That's why I drive the Civic Si frequently and use the Turbo on special drives . Primary driver of the M3 will be my girlfriend.
As for straight line comparison (M3 Vs 997S ) I don't recall my stock 997S too well but my modded one before my 997tt was faster --not by much though. Stock to stock might be a very close drag race.
The cars are very different where the M3 is more like a sophisticated muscle car and the 997S has this finess quality that had space NOT been an issue then the 997S facelift would have been my choice .
I haven;t ruled it out either . The Civic Si will at some point need to be replaced but that is at least a year away.
