EVOMS filter: pics of old one and a new one
Attached is a pic of a used EVOMS air filter (left), and a brand new one (right). The old one was used for about 15k miles. Filthy, eh?
What's great is that the inside of the old one is as clean as the inside of the new one- so even though the outside is filthy, it's good to know that none of that is getting into the engine.

why not just clean the old one. get a K&N cleaning kit.
I TOLD you not to take that thing off-road!
Good to see that it appears to be working well. And also wondering why you chose to replace rather than clean.
My view is that it's a $100k car, it lasted for 15K miles and it's a $100 part. Why risk the cleaning and icking up the MAF. But that's me.

Now that EVOMS sells dry as well as oiled air filters, does anyone know the difference - in flow rate, filtering capacity, whatever? And when do you need the 'sock'?
I chose to simply replace mine rather than clean it. A brand new filter runs about $79.
As an FYI, EVOMS no longer makes 2 versions (dry vs oiled) of this unit. Now, they make just one unit which doesn't need to be oiled, nor does it need the dry filter "sock". Cleaning these new units is easier too: spray it down with Simple Green, then water. Just be sure to spray from the inside out, not the outside in.
Still, I will most likely just buy a new one when it's time. My $79, my choice. But one can easily clean these.

If you ever get oil on a MAF meter just use some electronic spray cleaner on it and it should be fine. A lot of times the MAF is changed when it didnt need to be. In fact I clean mine when ever I disassemble the airbox to check on how things are.Dave
