Multi-function wheel upgrade for 997.2
Guys... I have the factory MF wheel on my 08 Targa.
What does it actually do in terms of practicality? I like the volume control but every time you have to do something with PCM, you have to scroll through the screens to confirm then select.
Did I miss something? Thanks!

If I'm changing source or radio station, I use the PCM buttons.
What I use the multifunction controls for most:
1) Programmable button= screen off. I use it to turn the PCM screen off when I'm driving and not using the map/nav, such as once I've got my MP3 DVD or radio playing.
2) Volume up/down on audio sources
3) Map zoom in/out when using map/navigation.
I've used the phone pickup/hangup the few times I got calls.
I never really use the MF buttons to select amoung menus on the PCM (my programmable button isn't configured to that way anyway).
How about back to the original topic, or sort of.
I just installed the multifunction module (part 997613465015Q0) on a 2011 C4S with pdk and PSM. I have DuraMetrics "Pro" cable and the Durametrics people told me I should be able to activate the multifunction aspect of the module.
So far I can't seem to find the correct "switches". I know the module is hooked up as the pdk paddles work. I found a switch related to multifunction steering wheel and changed it from “inactive” to “active”. Any guidance as to where all the "switches" might be and what they are called if not "multifunction" is appreciated.

I couldn't get the Durametric to disable multifunction when I changed the multifunction wheel for a paddle wheel. Got no valuable feedback from Durametric either. Just lived with the communication error when trying to communicate with the module on checking for faults with Durametric.
Seems you have the opposite situation to me - let me know if you get it to work out as I tried it all. Durametric is a bit flakey too.

Seems the price for these has gone up to $625? Wow, quite an increase! has anyone found a way to do the multifunction add without dealer involvement? Can the Durametric do this?
Thanks,
Chris

Here's my somewhat complicated Multi-function upgrade situation. I recently received a significant credit from PCNA, which I can use on any genuine Porsche parts and/or service. I decided to ask my local Porsche dealer to install the Multi-function kit for my 09 997.2 PDK; the one we all have seen advertised by Suncoast (PDKMFS). My service advisor cannot find the part in the official Porsche parts manual, so he calls Suncoast who refuses to give him the part number (so much for professional collegiality). I call Suncoast who refuses to give it to me unless I buy the part from them.
My service advisor tells me that he called a PCNA tech person who told him that the Suncoast kit is not a Porsche part and will not work on my 997.2. This confusing situation is obviously causing me to exclaim a loud WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot! Can someone please tell me the "top secret" part number for a multi-function kit for my 09 997.2 PDK cabriolet.
Advice would be appreciated.

fontana302 and alirob - Hopefully I will be installing a paddle shift wheel on my 11 GTS PDK later this coming Thursday. I currently have a heated multifunction wheel which was on the GTS from the factory. Since I usually watch the tech install any of my parts I'll ask abut PIWIS and 'adding' a multi function to a non multi function car and hopefully see a glitch free install of the paddle wheel.
Later in the week I'll update.

997.2 MF Upgrade?
I'm not sure. For the 997.1 style wheels like you have, I don't think there was a multifunction option. The first runs of 997.2 cars with sports wheels in 2008/09 came with the 997.1 round style wheels. Hence I went with the full wheel upgrade.<br />
<br />
Now whether a 997.2 new style sports wheel with multifunction can be installed on your car (a 997.1) thats a question someone with more 997.1 experience would have to answer, since there can be controller differences and there are PCM differences etc.

997.2 MF Upgrade?
After getting the runaround from my Porsche service dept., they now tell me that it is not possible to replace the steering wheel on my 09 997S PDK with a multifunction upgrade. Apparently they have not been reading the posts on this forum.
The only 'glitch' I've heard about is that you cannot have multi-function and paddle shifters at the same time, but I'm not aware that a basic PDK cannot have multifunction... but as I don't have PDK, I'll defer to others.
One question I have once you have released the rivets can you pop them back together?
I am looking to break down both my current heated wheel and the new multifunction one as well to change out the middle to the new multifunction one.
Once switch complete I do however want to reassemble the spare wheel to sell?

It is not possible from factory but you can do a Champion or Techart kit for the paddles.
