I've been using the module for a number of months now and have had no issues, including leaving the car parked for almost a week. Battery is not new either.

Thanks Ken, looks like I'll have to order this from Frank.

My battery is 12/08 and the Walmart battery is nowhere to be found

Same here. I've had the Module for 1.5 months now. No problem thus far. Only drive the car 1-2x/wk. Battery is 6 yrs old.

Thanks 808c2s, helps me justify the module. I'd rather pay $55 for the module than eating batteries.

Don't want to add more spin on the topic but I did the hack 2 weeks ago, followed the instructions as described by utkinpol. And just last week, other than a quick run to the muffler shop about 4 miles from my house, the car sat in the garage for over 4 days in home mode.... And yesterday I went to start it, started up with no hesitations and ran with no problems. My battery is the original battery that came with the car.

I'm thinking about doing the LED Dectane front mod now...

I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days so I'm going to charge the battery and then leave the switch in the home position and find out if that causes a drain as well.

I will keep post my results.
Do a test for us: Remove the hack and charge your battery up but don't change anything else. See if removing the hack really solves the issue or if you have something else going on.

Seems like a lot of guys have done the hack w/o issues and others have problems. Maybe we need a list of car models/years with or w/o a problem to see if it is model/year related. Maybe it does cause a minor current drain and it just highlights those that have weaker batteries.

Also take into consideration any aftermarket stuff connected to the car (radar, XM radio, Navigation, etc). That could also be a reason that some have issues and some don't.

I did the hack on March 7th & no problems thus far. My car is 2006 with a April 2010 Sam's Club battery. When I park the car I lock it, radio/Nav is turned off, A/C is turned off, headlights are in the off position, V-1 is turned off. The car usually sits still from Monday AM until Friday PM & will get ~150 miles on her through the weekend. The longest the car has sat with the hack was from Monday AM until the following Monday PM.

Got back from out of town. Battery charged up. Left switch in Home position..no drain and battery starts car fine. Weird!! Nothing after market except for NavTV iPod adapter. That turns off when car is off. I didn't do my hack personally, had Darin at FD Motorsports do it when he installed my Gundo hack. He followed the instructions given by OP.

Things that make you go hummmm?....

Thumbs up

I have an 06S - did the hack about 3 weeks ago. Car is a daily driver, but with many short trips. Age of the battery is unknown (car was purchased over a year ago). No problems so far... I keep the switch in the "Home" position. Car is locked during the day and unlocked in my garage at night.

I remember reading somewhere (owners manual?) that keeping the car locked vs. keeping it un-locked impacts battery usage. When the car is locked, certain electronic systems shut down, but when the car is unlocked, these systems are "live" so there is some constant drain on the battery.

Perhaps there is a difference with whether or not people having issues lock, or don't lock, their cars??

I have yet to have a problem as well. I leave the lights in the home position, leave my V1 on, have my iPod hooked up to my Dension, and I lock my doors. It has sat 5 days in a row and started right up.

Just another data point I know...

Did you remove the hack or leave it on and charge the battery to try it again?

I think you guys must drive your cars more than I do. I drive mine only on the weekends, I check the battery every month or so, never an issue, always showed a strong charge. Two weeks into the hack I have a completely drained battery (Zero lights, not even dim). Can't be a coincidence.
