If at first you don't succeed...

It only took three attempts to find and better yet buy my first Porsche.

Attempt 1: Car was clean, except DME showed that first owner treated the car like it was meant to stay at red line.

Attempt 2: Car checks out clean, negotiated great price, purchased plane ticket to fly out and complete transaction. Car gets rear ended.

Success on attempt 3... car checked out (DME & Paint Meter).

Flew down to San Antonio TX and drove it back! Road trip pictures found bellow...

Day 1 - Pick up & drive to Dallas
Ignore my awful parking job...

Day 2 - Dallas to Memphis
Rock chip proofing through use of Pepboys clear bra. Note, they ran out of clear so I had to improvise with smoke.

Obligatory picture of fried pickles from Memphis.

Day 3 - Memphis to Asheville NC

Scratch from someone at the hotel getting to close.

It consistently rained, every day.

Day 4 - Asheville NC to Washington DC

Night turns into day...

Essentials (V1 + Latest Garmin)

All cleaned up (clear bra hack removed)

Planned immediate maintenance...
  • IMS, RMS, Clutch
  • 60k Maintenance (Serpentine Belt, Plugs, Filters)
  • Dr. Colorchip - Fix a few rock chips & rash

Nice car and thanks for the pics. Can't believe someone scraped the fender Add hardwiring your V1 to your list of initial mods.

Enjoy!

Thanks, the V1 hard wire is on my list. Fortunately the scrape is only on the surface and can easily be buffed out.

I was also interested in this car at one point. It was priced just right and would have made a great track toy but the wife wasn't ready to let me raise another child until next october. Congrats, you definitely got more than your money's worth for her.

That's on the list as well, but first I'll need to fix a couple rock chips it's picked up over the years. This car has not been a garage queen, and won't be for that matter.

Service to be completed Monday
- IMS, RMS, Clutch
- 60k service (belt, filter, oil change)

Wash, clay bar, polish, wax, seal. If this doesn't yield the results I want then I'll turn to a local professional for paint correction help.

Future Mod List
- Get new key cut & coded (dealer visit)
- Plasti-dip (fix worn climate control buttons)
- Dr. Colorchip (fix rock chips & rash)
- Clear Bra
- Hardwire V1 & Remove K40 (anyone interested in buying this setup?)

Car looks like a great deal, and you're doing the right stuff to take care of it.

What is w/ 4 days to drive from San Antonio to DC tho??? I did that nonstop (in 24 hrs 3 minutes - 1576 miles) back in the day w/ 55 mph speed limit...
