I may be the first one to do this...

This is my freshly iPad mini mounted on the space of the PCM.
I will fabricate a bezel to cover the edges and sit flush against the AC controls. So far, I love it.

that was fast, it just released yesterday! Wouldn't you have more features in the car with an LTE iPad?

 

How would you plug the speakers and how to charge the battery? Are you thinking of fabricating a bezel that allows you to remove it or leave it there permanently?

the iPad will be mounted permanently with the option of removing it really easily. music is tru iTunes with all my library plus pandora. also fm radio thru I heart radio app. wifi is always supplied by clear and it's portable hotspot. movies, videos, YouTube, apps, obd2 connection thru Bluetooth adapter plug for engine management apps, gopro remote app for my go pro hero 2, plus **** in the car! lol! the iPad charges thru the car and stop charging while the key s removed. since the iPad is recessed 1/4" the bezel will make it look like it came with the car... I will paint the AC and PSM switch panel in black to match everything...

Okay Joe - obligatory kudos and great job. Now the more important stuff. We're going to need a step by step on this one. How are you plugged in to allow simultaneous charging, speakers, onboard engine management....? Too cool to let this go by as a "why in the hell would you do something like that". This is one that I might do. Did you already have problems with your PCM and have it out and think "what the heck, lets just put in an iPad?

 

Excellent, i did something very similar with my 996 was first going to do a samsung galaxy (since those fit) but ended up doing a GPS and it looked FLUSH & Stock!
